Papa Roach will infest the U.S. in January on their third headlining tour in almost as many years. Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner, Tobin Esperance and Jacoby Shaddix will set out on a three-month tour, on January 13 in Vancouver, British Columbia, a DreamWorks spokesperson said. Only the first leg of the tour has been confirmed, though the band is expected to then travel up the East Coast, into Canada, and then across the Northern U.S. before wrapping up in Sacramento in mid-April. Kurt Cobain regretted using heroin to ease the pain of a stomach ailment but could not bring himself to stop, and talked of shooting himself, according to excerpts from the late Nirvana star’s diaries. The writings, printed in Newsweek this week, are from the upcoming book “Journals,” which contains letters and diary entries from the 1980s until 1994, when Cobain shot himself to death at age 27 in his Seattle home. The upcoming Nirvana collection, much-hyped due to the inclusion of the previously unreleased “You Know You’re Right,” will feature 14 songs overall, according to the Universal Music sales catalog. The album arrives October 29. Tracks include the song responsible for the former Seattle band’s breakout success, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and three others from the album Nevermind. Florida punk rockers New Found Glory are gearing up to release their first DVD, The Story So Far, next month. Due October 15th on MCA, the DVD features live footage showing the quintet’s rise from playing backyard shindigs to European tours. Kurt Cobain fans are closer to Nirvana than they have been in years. A studio version of the unreleased Nirvana track “You Know You’re Right” has surfaced online in its entirety. The song, which was reportedly recorded in January 1994, less than three months before frontman Cobain took his own life with a shotgun in his Seattle home, is expected to a appear on the long-awaited Nirvana greatest-hits album, which, according to Courtney Love, is due by Christmas. Chris Cornell and the remnants of Rage Against the Machine are ready to put the super back in their supergroup. Yes, their hyped off-again, on-again collaboration is back on, and to prove it, they’re releasing an album and planning a tour. In the late 1970s, Elvis Costello wore a punk snarl to go along with his sharp suits and horn-rimmed glasses. Twenty-five years later, the prolific troubadour has replaced it with something more subtly sinister. Cruel Smile, a companion LP to Costello’s latest studio album, When I Was Cruel, features B-sides, rare cuts and live versions from that album, as well as a handful of fan favorites.
