While She Sleeps have shared their first music of 2023 in the form of “SELF HELL“. It’s perfect timing for the band, who are preparing to play their biggest-ever headline show next week. That’s going to be at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace and represents an incredible rise for the band. From sweaty clubs in Sheffield to worldwide acclaim, the band have blossomed and grown from metalcore roots to genuine rock superstars. Delivering scathing takedowns of modern living – depression, addiction, technology and everything in between – whilst still managing to be exhilarating and electric, they deserve all the accolades they get. And “SELF HELL” feels like another huge moment in a series of huge moments.
The track is the first to be taken from the band’s new album of the same name. “SELF HELL” the album will be released on March 15 2024. And the song itself is a crushing introduction to such a vital new era. A track that incorporates with breeziness of brit-pop and alt-rock with crushing post-hardcore grit, it’s a colorful and crushing experiment. Expressing every beat that makes While She Sleeps tick whilst still sounding like nothing they have done before, it’s a huge step into the unknown. It is also ready-made for for arenas, which is fitting for where they are soon to be playing.

Guitarist Sean Long had this to say about the new era and new album:
“The name of the album is the foundation of how we view ourselves and the world. Everyone has a subjective experience like no other. Yet the constant that binds us is the differences between us and the fact that we are all suffering in our own way. Don’t be too quick to judge and demonise, your time will come for redemption or damnification.
“We’ve been drawing inspiration from an array of misfit artists far from where you would usually pigeonhole While She Sleeps. Each member has brought in a different perspective of inspiration so far apart in genre that it has left us with a very odd and satisfying sonic. While She Sleeps will continue to keep the world guessing on what we will do next. Not only for the fans but this is a spiritual venture that we have to keep alive, moving, and constantly in flux. We do this by scaring ourselves with things we are not supposed to do. Every. Single. Day.”
