The absolute legendary rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins revealed a brand new music video for their recent track “Spellbinding” today. The song comes from their newest trilogy album ATUM, that dropped in May of this year. The Smashing Pumpkins explore a fantasy universe filled with space themes and bizarre imagery within the video. It visually feels extremely in line with something you would have seen on MTV in the mid to late nineties.
Director, Kevin Kerslake shares on the visual: “We adopted a virtual production model for the Spellbinding video, creating it entirely in the gaming engine; unreal, with digital avatars moving through fantastical worlds that play a key role in the ATUM storyline. Billy and I share an interest in the fusion of old-world elements with state of the art technology, and all the stars aligned on this video to break new ground.”

Earlier this year The Smashing Pumpkins announced a lengthy tour of North America coined “The World Is A Vampire”. Stone Temple Pilots, Interpol, and Rival Sons will provide support on select dates.
Speaking on their excitement for the tour, Billy Corgan shared: “I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That’s what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.”
