The Sleeping have revealed that their original line-up – one that hasn’t created together in 17 years – have reunited for a new album. That line-up is vocalist Douglas Robinson, drummer Joe Zizzo, bassist Sal Mignano, and guitarist Cameron Keym, who last worked together on 2006’s Questions and Answers. This new record is going to be called I Feel Like I’m Becoming a Ghost and will be released on August 18.
The tracklisting for the album looks a lot like this:
01. “Redder Than Red”
03. “The Animal”
06. “Trend Meds”
07. “No Shadow In The Sun”
08. “No Light”
10. “Paranormal Hologram”
11. “I Feel Like I’m Becoming a Ghost”
And the artwork is a lot like this:
The band have also shared a brand new track set to feature on it. That track is “No Light” and rolls back the years in the most vicious and vibrant ways. Gritty riffs, enchanting melodies and plenty of attitude and angular refrains that made them such a force at the turn of the millennium, it’s so good to hear from The Sleeping in such a way again. Keeping you guessing at every turn and battering you around the chops when you need it most, it’s as fresh as it comes.
Douglas had this to say about the lyrical state of the track, ““This was written about needing the person you love at all costs. I couldn’t get through everyday struggles I face without my partner. It’s all of your senses heightened when being close to the person who helps you feel the most sane.”
You can also hear the previously released “The Animal”, which toys with fuzzy post-hardcore to devastating effect:
