The Plot In You Pummel You Into Submission With “Forgotten”

The Plot In You are one of those bands where you never know what you are going to get next. Over the years, they have delivered tracks that sit on both sides of the coin. One minute vulnerable and intimate, the next gritty and destructive, they will always keep you on your toes. The last few years have seen things sit on the more melodic side. 2021’s full-length Swan Song flirted with even more of the earnest and heartfelt sentiments that 2018’s DISPOSE had sewn into their tapestry. Whilst 2022 and 2023 has seen the release of a duo of singles that wouldn’t sound out of place on alternative radio, “Divide” and “Left Behind“. But now, they are reminding us that they are still capable of piling on the pain with one of the heaviest songs of their whole career.

That song is “Forgotten” and it is a brutal and bare-bones experience. Incorporating all of the intricate effects that The Plot In You control so efficiently alongside steel-plated riffs and howled vocals, it’s a nu-metal homewrecker. Lyrically it is a callout anthem of the highest degree. Spitting bile into the void and coming out the other side ready to take on anyone, it’s a harsh and heavy listen.
