Mayday Parade Are Emotional As Ever With “More Like A Crash”

The Legacy pop-rock band, Mayday Parade have gifted fans with a brand new song “More Like A Crash” today. Last night the group premiered the track right here on Idobi Radio for the very first time courtesy of taking over our “Fresh At Five”. The band whose discography is often coined as an “emotion” all in its own right has returned with another pull-at-your-heart-strings banger. The track is super upbeat, and certainly drives with catchy guitars and sing-along vocals, but remains very much in tune with the intense feelings a classic Mayday Parade song invokes.

Guitarist, Alex Garcia shares on the new track: “‘More Like A Crash’ is about the chaos and pain of endings, especially regarding personal relationships. Despite how beautiful something could be at one time, often at its end there’s just bad feelings and a sense of being lost in the wreckage.”

After the release of the group’s seventh studio album, What It Means To Fall Apart released in 2021 via Rise Records, Mayday Parade decided it was time to explore releasing music independently. This new track is their first to come from this new endeavor. This is a space the band hasn’t fully existed in since their self-released debut EP, Tales Told By Dead Friends, which sold 50,000 copies without the support of a label.

“It’s extremely exciting and terrifying all at the same time” shares Drummer Jake Bundrick. “There’s obviously a lot more freedom and control,” adds Alex Garcia. That freedom, as Bassist Jeremy Lenzo explains it, will allow them to “release new music more consistently as opposed to dropping an album every couple of years. We’re going into this with the mindset that each song really needs to stand on its own.” Bundrick adds: “I wanted energy from this new batch that still felt angsty but had our emotional flair to them. It’s been a while since we’ve put out some uptempo songs and that was important to me.”
