John O’Callaghan, the wordsmith and lead vocalist behind The Maine and John The Ghost just announced a forthcoming new book, The Highly Unqualified Hand-Guide To Keeping Plants Alive.

“I started compiling all of these ideas, poems, and half-bad bits of advice after my daughter was born. Little reminders to her that I am just as confused as she’ll ever be,” O’Callaghan shares in an Instagram Reel.

“The text kept evolving but the sentiment remained, and now that my son is here, I felt compelled to share it with y’all so it can exist in the ether for them and for you,” he says. “Take this all with a grain of salt and make your own inferences about life and how to live it; but by all means…live the hell out of it.”

If you need a little bit of inspo for your Monday evening, O’Callaghan gave listeners and readers a taste. of what’s to come in the book. “Life is a coin flip, so call it in the air. And have faith that no matter how it lands, expect the outcome to be anything but boring,” he says.
