Casey — How To Disappear
Release Date: January 12, 2024

The emotional post-hardcore darlings from South Wales, Casey reformed in 2022 after a brief hiatus. The band was welcomed back with open arms, especially in the States, where they only had a one-off “final” show in Chicago before this year, in which they headlined a string of dates around Furnace Fest

Known to wear their lyrical heart on their sleeve, the band describes music as a labor of love. You can feel this with every note played and every word sung. “Puncture Wounds To Heaven” explores depression, apathy, and guilt. “Bite Through My Tongue” brings you on a journey of isolation and dissociation after a breakup. The title track, “How To Disappear,” traverses the effects you have on people after long-lasting relationships come to an end.

Needless to say, their upcoming record will leave us in a pool of our own tears in the most beautiful and powerful way possible. —Sean Mott

Neck Deep — Neck Deep
Release Date: January 19, 2024

A decade on from their rapid rise to the forefront of modern pop-punk, Neck Deep is returning to the roots that made them what they are. Choosing to make their fifth full-length a self-titled serves as a definitive statement of what the band is all about. Based on the build-up, they have absolutely nailed it.

The likes of “Heartbreak Of The Century” and “Take Me With You” are crisp, clean, and insatiably catchy. “It Won’t Be Like This Forever” is the sort of arm-round-the-shoulder anthem that we all need from time to time.

To find themselves in such a comfortable and confident space, one where they are aware of what their music means to people whilst remembering why they do this in the first place is a reason to celebrate. They are leading the charge on their own terms and showing they are in complete control of their destiny. Neck Deep has the makings of an instant classic. —Jack Rogers

Green Day — Saviors
Release Date: January 19, 2024

In October of 2023, we saw Green Day return to the stage as a headlining act at When We Were Young Festival. They brought us incredible performances two nights in a row. The band took this opportunity in the spotlight to announce the release of their forthcoming fourteenth album. Saviors is due January 19. So far, the trio has given us three new singles to tease the overall release. First was “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” which they debuted live at When We Were Young. After their stadium rock, radio-driven 2020 album Father Of All… boasted a favorable departure in sound, this leading single from Saviors seems to be bringing them back to their dirty, punk rock roots.

Next was “Look Ma, No Brains!” followed by the recent release “Dilemma” with an accompanying music video. Both songs cemented the notion that Green Day is revisiting the sound that earned them fame and recognition in the first place. Distorted, palm-muted guitars, fast-paced drums, and Billie Joe Armstrong’s notable and iconic vocal accents are ever so present in these new tracks. Fans can look forward to a nostalgia-drenched record this month. Green Day is also set to head out on a massive headlining tour this spring and summer. Make sure to check out the dates! —Tate Logan

Charlotte Sands — can we start over?
Release Date: January 24, 2024

Breakout pop-rocker Charlotte Sands isn’t slowing down. Over the past few months, she’s announced a headlining world tour for 2024, released two EPs in 2023, and has dropped four singles since last September. It’s safe to say that her debut album can we start over? is going to be just as high energy and engaging as the blue-haired Sands herself

Fans catch a glimpse of what to expect on the upcoming album with songs like “pity,” “use me,” and “blindspot”. She showcases the range of alt-pop that she can create. We’re certain that Sands will be a stand-out star in the new year. —Lizzie Baumgartner

Alkaline Trio — Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs
Release Date: January 26, 2024

Their first full-length album release since 2018’s exceptional Is This Thing Cursed? and our first new music since 2020’s E.P., Alkaline Trio’s forthcoming Rise Records release, Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs, promises to be an outstanding collection of new tracks from the beloved Chicago punks. Vocalist Matt Skiba previously stated that the album and its title were inspired by his mother’s busy nights as an emergency room nurse of “blood, hair, and eyeballs,” a sentiment of hard work and dedication that runs through the veins and DNA of the release.

Despite the considerable gap since their last full-length offering (all is forgiven as Skiba was pulling double-duty working alongside blink-182 before Tom DeLonge’s return in 2022), we’re confident in predicting that this new album will stand out as some of the group’s finest work in their storied discography. Since the announcement of their new collection, the trio have issued the titular track and the heartful ballad, “Bad Time.” Each track, while polar opposites of one another, exudes the group’s quintessential take-no-prisoners attitude, raw-to-the-bone emotion, and punk-rock structure.

Following the release of the group’s tenth full-length record, AK3 will embark on an extensive, 28-date tour with Drug Church acting as support, which kicks off on February 22 in Anaheim, CA. —Paige Owens

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes — Dark Rainbow
Release Date: January 26, 2024

For the last nine years, Frank Carter and Dean Richardson have been writing and then tearing apart what it means to be a British rock band. Their Rattlesnakes discography boasts everything from bone-snapping punk to self-referential indie, and every twist and turn has taken them higher and higher up the ladder.

However, when it comes to their fourth effort, Dark Rainbow, they are turning the tables complexly in pursuit of timelessness. Admitting that they have pulled from their extensive catalog of ideas from previous campaigns, they realized now is the right time for them to blossom. They continue questioning what makes them who they are within their art. The result is unlike anything they have attempted before.

We already have the balladry brilliance of “Man Of The Hour,” a dissection of success and its effect on an individual, and “Brambles,” a post-punk pulsator all about pursuing love. Both are uniquely stirring, wonderfully brash, and poetically stark; these feel like just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the murky depths that the pair will be diving into. —Jack Rogers

Ghost Atlas — Dust Of The Human Shape
Release Date: January 26, 2024

Embarking on his UNFD debut with Ghost Atlas, Jesse Cash heralds a departure from the familiar realms of his progressive metalcore band, ERRA, with the release of Dust Of The Human Shape. Set to arrive on January 26, the album stands as the first comprehensive collection from Ghost Atlas since his 2017 opus, All Is In Sync, And There’s Nothing Left To Sing About, and the acoustic reverie of 2019’s Sleep Therapy: An Acoustic Performance (if you haven’t heard this record’s stand-out “Sleep Therapy,” do yourself a favor immediately). The album has been showcased through “Lesser Gods,” “In The House Of Leaves,” and “Seeker (Stretch The Night).”

In the continuum of Ghost Atlas‘ discography, Cash’s latest creation promises a 12-track saga that mirrors his previous endeavors—an intensely personal voyage where each element, from the intricate instrumentation to the meticulously conceptualized lyrics and accompanying visuals, serves as a deliberate expression of his innermost musings. With Dust Of The Human Shape, Cash initiates an open and interpretative dialogue, beckoning listeners to construct their own profound connections to the music and its meaning. The album, in its entirety, becomes a synthesis of artistic expression interwoven with the fabric of raw human experience, providing an intimate glimpse into the profound recesses of Cash’s mind. Dust Of The Human Shape is poised to transcend into the realm of profound philosophical exploration, offering a thought-provoking and introspective odyssey that we cannot wait to experience across 2024. —Paige Owens

Enterprise Earth — Death: An Anthology
Release Date: February 2, 2024

Since vocalist Travis Worland became a permanent member in May 2022 after being the band’s touring vocalist in 2021 and early 2022, Enterprise Earth has released nothing but absolute heaters. It is arguably the best music of the band’s career. With the first three singles released so far from the upcoming album, it’s abundantly clear: Enterprise Earth is about to release its finest work yet.

King of Ruination” (featuring Ben Duerr of Shadow of Intent), “Casket of Rust,” and “The Reaper’s Servant” (featuring Darius Tehrani of Spite) showcase guitarist/producer/composer Gabe Mangold’s next-level songwriting. It also affirms Worland is one of the best vocalists in all of heavy music. From the brutally powerful vocals, to the face-melting solos and bone-crunching breakdowns, this sets up to be one of the wildest releases this year.

While the band has always released killer music, the evolution, progression, and new vocalist make this one of the most anticipated albums, as they’ve been able to raise the bar in a big way. —Patrick Walford

The Chisel — What A Fucking Nightmare
Release Date: February 9, 2024

Punk has taken on many different forms over the last 50 years, presented through a whole series of lenses. However, when it comes down to it, nothing beats when it revels in the dirt stuck on the bottom of its Doc Martens. That’s where The Chisel exists. They have been shelling out rough and ready British goodness since their inception in 2020.

Though it’s with What A Fucking Nightmare that they are set to take their righteous sounds from the streets and to the world. Their first full-length for Pure Noise Records, they have left no stone unturned in making sure it is their definitive masterstroke with 16 songs penned. Though don’t expect any sprawling prog-tinged opuses here. As based on the triumphant “Cry Your Eyes Out” and direct “Fuck Em,” this is chaos embodied.

Pushing themselves into new spaces whilst refusing to lose any of the UK grit, this is guaranteed to be one of the hardcore spotlights of 2024. —Jack Rogers

Chelsea Wolfe — She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She
Release Date: February 9, 2024

Few artists capture the boundless beauty and brutality of the world quite like Chelsea Wolfe. Delicate and devastating, their career has been one that feels as fragrant as flower petals but sharp as razors. Though with their latest full-length, things are changing, and it’s absolutely for the better.

She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She is said to be a rebirth in terms of structure and emotion for Chelsea. On a sonic level specifically, the pieces released so far sit within experimental waters, turning towards industrial rather than ethereal. “Tunnel Lights” rips and tears with an almost post-hardcore density against euphoric hopefulness. “Whispers In The Echo Chamber” ebbs and flows between quivering tension and all-out damnation.

It all points towards a record that will indeed define Chelsea Wolfe in more ways than one in the future. A shedding of the skin and a reminder of what it means to grow in a world that so often wants to hold you down. With that in mind, this could be a life-changer. —Jack Rogers

IDLES — TANGK
Release Date: February 16, 2024

IDLES is always grinding, and 2023 showed myriad thrilling singles, including “Grace” and “Dancer,” ahead of the release of TANGK. Noticeably, the British punk rockers may have softened their sharper thematic edges and are entering their season of love. After all, in “Grace,” lead singer Joe Talbot softly sings, “No god, no king/I said, love is the thing/No crown, no ring/I said, love is the thing,” juxtaposed with psychedelic instrumentals. IMHO, pure love is as punk as it gets, right?

In a statement, Talbot shares, “TANGK. I needed love. So I made it. I gave love out to the world, and it feels like magic. This is our album of gratitude and power. All love songs. All is love.” After years of discussing personal and world traumas, it’s more than okay to find the bright spots in existence and create them for an audience. Plus, don’t get it twisted because this album is still rife with dance-inducing riffs. Their single isn’t called “Dancer” without good reason. We highly recommend getting your dancing/pitting shoes on this spring as the band heads out on a major world tour. Whether spreading love or political awareness, IDLES are always a good playlist add for a true catharsis. —Maria Serra

Bloom — Maybe In Another Life
Release Date: February 16, 2024

Pure Noise Records has been the home for melodic hardcore bands since the label launched. Counterparts, With Honor, No Bragging Rights, and now Sydney, Australia’s own Bloom. Despite forming in 2017, Maybe In Another Life will be their first full-length release. Striving to put their all into every release, the quality over quantity approach is a respected one. Leaving fans foaming at the mouth for a full record to feast on.

With their lead singles, “Bound To Your Whispers” and “Maybe In Another Life,” the band showcases how they are heavy, catchy, and full of intricate guitar work and emotionally fueled lyrics. Despite dealing with setbacks most bands experienced due to the pandemic, these songs promise that this record will be a memorable one and only the beginning of what they have to offer. —Sean Mott
