We Have An ‘Infatuation’ with iDKHOW’s New Single & Music Video

Dallon Weekes is dancing into the new year with I Don’t Know How But They Found Me’s latest single, “Infatuation.” This comes ahead of their upcoming sophomore album, GLOOM DIVISION, which is set to release on February 23 via Concord Records. The companion video for the new iDKHOW track exudes a creepy, mirror-house vibe that elevates the initial lyrics to create an eerie, devotional message.

A boppy introduction to the song draws a parallel to a nostalgic reminiscence of the 2010s indie-sleaze sound that has been on the comeback. The opening lyrics, “I need you now/But it’s infatuation/Love is my drug/All my diction disappears for her,” really sound like this is a song about love lost or admiring someone from a distance in a nervous, cute manner. As the dancey cymbals come in and continue through the track, the shift from something adorable transforms into something sinister.

While a press release to promote the new track said the song was about “the religious guilt that comes with indulging in your own sexual fixations and fantasies.” Weekes clairifes via social media that the true meaning of it is, “On the surface, it’s about romantic infatuation, but really it’s about indulging in your own ego. To the point of neglecting reality, and the consequences that always follow.”

The music video also gives an unsettling aura, with Weekes donning an uncanny valley mask and dancing around in a loose yet coordinated way. During the catchy chorus, both of Weekes’ faces appear in a mirrored line-up while singing. Joywave vocalist Daniel Armbruster’s head is also in formation. And if anyone has ever been on the “horror” side of TikTok, it’ll leave fans feeling uneasy but happy for another iDKHOW track that can be put on repeat.

iDKHOW will be hitting the road following the release of GLOOM DIVISION alongside Benches. You can check out the touring schedule below and get tickets here.
