Since her appearance on America’s Got Talent performing Spiritbox’s “Holy Roller,” Harper has made an unexpected mark on the metal scene. Over the past two years, the young singer has released her own tracks covering alternative staples. Now, she and Deadlands vocalist Kasey Karlsen have teamed up to reveal their latest collaboration with a cover of Bad Omens’ “Dethrone.”
The 12-year-old has a list of heavy hitters, including covers of We Came As Romans and Bring Me The Horizon, alongside her own heavy tracks like “I Hope You Choke.” And to no one’s surprise, Harper and Karlsen have also collaborated before. Last winter, the singers and Daisy Grenade dropped a cover for Pierce The Veil and Kellin Quinn’s “King For A Day.”
Karlsen revealed the release on Instagram, saying, ”Harper and I have been so excited for this cover and thanks to @phoenixstudiosmusic it was all possible. They did such an incredible job.” In her own post, Harper says she “had so much fun” and hopes her fans like it.
Taken from Bad Omens’ second full-length album Finding God Before God Finds Me, Harper and Karlsen deliver their rendition with as much fervor as the original. With harsh growls and fierce stylings, the two singers channel the track’s fury into each syllable. Check out their rendition of “Dethrone” below.
The cover follows Harper’s latest single, “Bird In A Cage,” in which she takes a break from biting vocals and delivers an electric ballad about feeling trapped and alone. Though she has some tracks on Spotify, the majority of her work can be found on her YouTube channel.
