This past weekend, Louder Than Life delivered plenty of surprises for fans, both exciting and unfortunate. The three-day event ended on an incredibly high note when Spiritbox teamed up with Poppy for a special live performance of the Canadian metal group’s latest single, “Soft Spine,” during the festival’s final day. Previously, the act dropped The Fear of Fear EP in November 2023 as well as their “Cobra” rock remix with Megan Thee Stallion. Last week, Kai Turmann, a lifelong friend of Bill Crook, announced via Instagram that Bill, who previously served as the bassist for Spiritbox and the pop-punk act Living With Lions, had suddenly passed away. Since that initial post, artists from the metal, pop-punk, and alternative music communities have flooded Bill’s final post on Instagram, where he detailed working with Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie on new music at the beginning of July. It is with deep sorrow that we report the sudden passing of Bill Crook, the former bassist of the Spiritbox and the pop-punk act Living With Lions. His death was announced approximately seven hours ago via musician Kai Turmann’s Instagram, in which Turmann shared a heartfelt message of disbelief with fans. Looks like we’ll be hearing from Jordan Fish sooner than expected in the metalcore scene. He’s linking up with powerhouse Spiritbox as they work on new music. This was revealed after guitarist Mike Stringer of the three-piece posted on his Instagram stories of a studio mixing-board with Fish sitting behind it.
