Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the pop-punk duo girlfriends, comprised of Travis Mills and Nick Gross, has unveiled their sugary-sweet new single, “shut up & kiss me.” The new release marks their debut single arriving via Verswire since the pair’s signing with the VC-modeled company at the end of 2023.
The duo’s latest offering is a spirited anthem that delves into the fearless pursuit of love. Infused with the energetic pulse of pop punk’s forefathers, “shut up & kiss me” draws clear inspiration from blink-182 and Green Day, subtly paying homage to their influence through the band’s nuanced songwriting. Against a backdrop of fast-paced guitars and thunderous drum fills courtesy of Nick Gross, the track effortlessly weaves an array of infectious melodies, tightening its grip on the listener. Travis Mills’ charismatic delivery is captured through the chorus as he sings, “You said do you think I talk too much/I got a good idea/Honestly I wish that you’d shut up/Shut up and kiss me,” infusing the song with a playful charm and irresistible allure.
“‘shut up & kiss me’ is the epitome of what inspired us to make music to begin with,” the pair shares of their latest release. “Fast, loud, and fun. It’s about trusting your gut, taking a risk, and wearing your heart on your sleeve while doing it.”
