Enterprise Earth have announced the details of their new album Death: An Anthology. It’s set to follow up the band’s 2022 album The Chosen, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been exceptionally busy in the interim. 2023 has seen the release of two additional singles, bridging the gap between the eras in some style. They are “Death Magick” and “The World Without Us“, two sprawling and sensational pieces of progressive deathcore majesty. Showing off the lengths at which the band are willing to travel in the name of expression and expansion, they have shown that they are more than just bludgeoning heaviness. However, when it comes down to Death: An Anthology, there is a lot of heavy material to claw through.
The album will drop on February 2, 2024 via MNRK Heavy. Vocalist Travis Worland had this to say about the album and how it came to exist in this form:
“Coming from a heinously religious upbringing and background, death has been at the forefront of my mind since childhood. Going to Hell, going to Heaven, going nowhere at all, being stuck between two polar opposite eternities. So, I wrote about it. From all manner of perspectives. The death of self, the death of someone or something important to you, the death of a relationship, the death of individuality, fantastical stories of what awaits us when we die. Death takes many forms and can be spoken of in so many different lights. This is my story of death and dying. This is ‘Death: An Anthology’.”

The album is set to feature 11 tracks, with many of them featuring guest appearances from scene legends. “The Reaper’s Serpent” will feature Darius Tehrani, famous for his guttural work with Spite. “Curse Of Flesh” will feature the brilliant Matthew K. Heafy of the legendary Trivium. And “Malevolent Force” will have a star appearance from Alluvial’s Wes Haunch.
There’s one more guest as well, and they appear on the first taste of the album Enterprise Earth have shared. That’s “King Of Ruination“, a sprawling, technical, foreboding piece of dark magic. Bile-drenched one moment, and beautifully crafted the next, it’s an incredible place to kick off such a thoughtful and thrilling chapter. And that guest appearance comes from Ben Duerr of Shadow Of Intent!
The band also commented on the song, saying, “‘King of Ruination’ ushers in the new era of Enterprise Earth, a violent and punishing force of groove-centric metal. This is merely a glimpse of what we have in store for you all on ‘Death: An Anthology’, thank you for listening.”
