Citizen has built anticipation for their upcoming album, Calling The Dogs, with the official release of their latest single, “If You’re Lonely.” The track, which made its debut during their sold-out Decade of Youth tour earlier this summer, showcases the band’s growth and musical evolution.
“If You’re Lonely” serves as a promising glimpse into Citizen‘s forthcoming fifth full-length album, slated to drop on October 6. With its pop-infused charm, captivating melodies, introspective lyrics, and powerful delivery, the single reflects vocalist Mat Kerekes’ personal journey of self-discovery and his difficult upbringing.
The Ohio natives’ new single creates a vibrant and invigorating soundscape, beckoning listeners to dive headfirst into its infectious allure. The playful percussion at the forefront of the track instantly grabs your attention, infusing the music with an irresistible rhythmic drive that compels you to get on your feet and bob along. Enhanced by spirited guitars that inject a lively groove into the composition, the instrumentation takes on a dynamic and effervescent quality, propelling the song forward with an undeniable sense of momentum.
Of the new release, Kerekes shares, “I grew up around a narcissistic parent and absorbed a lot of that behavior over time, negatively affecting people close to me. ‘If You’re Lonely’ is about recognizing that, growing from it, and becoming a reliable shoulder to lean on.”
Following the Calling The Dogs album release, Citizen will embark on their fall US headlining tour which kicks off on October 18, and will see the band play back-to-back dates at When We Were Young Festival. Check out their full touring schedule below and grab tickets to see Citizen live here.
