Indie sleaze summer is alive and well in summer 2024 with help from London’s beloved Bloc Party. The indie-rockers surprised fans with their new single, “Flirting Again,” their first offering since 2022’s Alpha Games. The punchy, sonically unique single is utterly refreshing, and a welcome addition to this year’s indie playlists.

Vocalist Kele Okereke says, “‘Flirting Again’ is about being thrust back into the scene and trying to remember how it all works. It’s about trying to appear desirable, whilst at the same time hiding the hurt that defines you.”

Okereke continues, “We are all carrying around the various scars that we have accumulated over the years, the heartbreaks that have come to shape how we give love and receive love. This song is about picking yourself up and carrying on.”

Bloc Party has a few select tour dates coming up, including a stop at Glastonbury where they will be performing on Saturday, June 29. Check out the full Glastonbury lineup here and check out Bloc Party’s upcoming shows below. Plus, the band recently took to Twitter/X to hint at a possible run in the States, so stay tuned!
