Fans thought that As It Is took their final bow in 2022, but recently, the band returned to announce they’ll be playing Slam Dunk 2025. Additionally, they’re gearing up to release A Decade Uneventful: B-Sides & Rarities (2012 – 2022) on November 20.

Following all the great news, As It Is’ lead vocalist Patty Walters took to his YouTube channel to have a heart-to-heart with watchers in a video entitled “See you around.” It marks the first video posted on his personal channel in 10 years.

He details As It Is‘ signing to Fearless Records way back in 2014. “Our lives were changed thanks to a song, which feels silly, but that’s true,” he says about the response to “Dial Tones.” This led to more tours, festivals, award nominations, and beyond.

Walters shares, “When everything you’ve ever wanted doesn’t fix everything that’s broken, it turns out that that can, rather efficiently, unravel your mental health. Which became the inspiration for more songs and albums.”

He continues, “We started experiencing this tug-of-war between what you actually want and what the world tells you you’re supposed to want—exterior success, visible success, superficial success. I cared then and I care now, so much more, about the quality of the song than its success or its performance.”

He adds, “I, for so many reasons, made the decision to exit the music industry entirely.” After this time, Walters described finding “long-term happiness and stability” on his healing journey.

Lately, Walters has been reconnecting with alternative music. “Because of this channel, because of you and people like you, I have a decade of amazing memories. I lived my childhood dream.”

Finally, he says, “See you around.” The video then reveals the current lineup of the band. You can Walters’ entire video below.
