7 New Movies We Can’t Wait For in 2024

2024 new movies
[Mean Girls, Terrified 3, Dune Part Two, Joker Folie a Deux]

As we gear up for next year, music isn’t the only thing we are excited about. 2024 is going to hold some absolutely fantastic new movies. Especially now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over and actors have successfully advocated for themselves in the movie industry, we can talk about how stoked we are for upcoming releases.

This list of movies will only include ones we have final release dates for as well as an official trailer. As much are we are looking forward to Robert Egger‘s take on Nosferatu coming out December 25 and Beetlejuice 2 coming September 9, we unfortunately haven’t been given trailers yet. We are also pumped for A Quiet Place: Day One hitting theatres June 28, and of course Joker: Folie A Deux out on October 4. Fingers-crossed we will get a sneak peek at these movies soon!

Without further ado, lets jump into it!

Mean Girls
Release Date: January 12, 2024

Are we getting old!?!? They released the original Mean Girls movie in 2004, yes, but it doesn’t seem like it has been quite long enough to remake it. Alas, we are excited anyways. The 2024 version of Mean Girls will be based on the broadway musical. A movie adaptation of a musical adaptation of a movie, if you will. The film will star the iconic queer, indie artist Renneé Rapp (Sex Lives Of College Girls) as Regina George, Angourie Rice (Mare Easttown) as Cady Heron, and Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty) as Aaron Samuels. We will see Tina Fey reprise her role of Ms. Norbury and Tim Meadows as Principal Duvall. It totally has a stacked cast, so we can’t help but look forward to this release.

Madame Web
Release Date: February 14, 2024

Starring the incredible Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria) and Dakota Johnson (Suspiria, Fifty Shades Of Grey), Madam Web is bound to be an excellent action movie. The film follows Cassandra Webb, a New York City paramedic who begins to show signs of clairvoyance. As she starts to face revelations of her past, she must protect three young women from a strange adversary who wants them dead. You may recognize the name from the Spider-Man universe. Typically depicted as a supporting character to Spiderman himself in the comic book series, we are looking forward to seeing her get her time in the spotlight.

Dune: Part Two
Release Date: March 1, 2024

Dune was a MASSIVE hit in 2021. With leads like Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, it was pretty impossible for the film not to do well in the box office. It grossed over $400 million dollars and earned 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Leaving off on a cliffhanger, and making us wait three years, we are just happy we are finally getting the other piece of the puzzle next year. We will finally find out if the protagonist chooses between the love of his life and the fate of his universe.

Challengers
Release Date: April 26, 2024

Another movie starring Zendaya? Yes, please! Challengers is a flick people have been talking about for months now. A certain spicy scene from the movie trailer hit TikTok earlier this year, hinting towards a possible steamy love triangle between Zendaya’s character and two handsome lads. Let’s not get too caught up on that though. The movie follows Tashi, a former famous tennis player and coach, as she guides her husband through a tennis tournament where he is up against her former lover and ex-boyfriend. Categorized as a sports romance, we are sure to get great characterization and a fantastic plot line out of this one.

The Fall Guy
Release Date: May 3, 2024

We love Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. The two are cast as the leads in this upcoming action/thriller coming out next year. The Fall Guy focuses on main character, Colt Seavers, a stuntman by day who finds himself moonlighting as a bounty hunter. The movie is sure to impress, as it boasts David Leitch as director. Leitch is known for his stunt work in John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2. Who better to direct this flick that an action man himself? The Fall Guy is a movie adaptation of the 1980 TV series of the same name. It is dropping in May, just in time for summer. Everyone loves a good action movie in the summertime.

Inside Out 2
Release Date: June 14, 2024

Possibly the most iconic and heartfelt children’s movie since the likes of Toy Story and Monsters, Inc, the first Inside Out movie was perfect. A film that highlighted human emotions and taught kids that we are complex creatures, with more feelings than just happiness, it was a raw and special effort. The first one came out in 2015, making the second installment long overdue. Inside Out 2 will still focus on Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. However, as Riley continues to grow up, Anxiety will be introduced. We will watch as Riley struggles with the challenges of being a teenager, something all of us have been thorough.

Terrifier 3
Release Date: October 25, 2024

This movie is NOT for the faint of heart. The original Terrifier, and our introduction to Art The Clown, was a pretty underground flick. Indie horror experts seemed to be the only ones to love it while it scooted under the radar to the public. However, in 2022, Terrifier 2 absolutely exploded online. Art The Clown became a viral sensation, and a movie made for only $250,000 grossed over $15 million in the box office. With this large success, writer and director Damien Leone was able to take his vision to new heights. Terrifier 3 drops in October around Halloween, but will primarily be a Christmas movie. The promise of this film being the most gruesome effort yet in the franchise, horror fans are more than geared-up.
