Seattle rock act Sunny Day Real Estate is planning to record its first album in 15 years with its original lineup.
After nine on-and-off years, Emo-rock trailblazers Sunny Day Real Estate have called it quits. The band had been at work on the follow-up to last year’s The Rising Tide but, because of business woes, has decided not to continue. According to the band’s statement on its official Web site (www.sunnydayrealestate.net), a “string of bad luck” with management companies and Arista Records ceasing to distribute the band’s label Time Bomb Recordings made a “European tour and advertising for a new album near impossible. Seattle’s dreamy rock band, Spirit Award has announced their upcoming full-length album, The Fear out May 19th via Share it Music. Leading up to the release, the group have shared a new experimental and groovy track “New Energy” today. This song comes as the fourth single from the new album, following “Western Violence“, “Guilt and Shame“, and “Pushing Forward“. Spirit Award is singer/songwriter Daniel Lyon, along with bassist and collaborator Chris Jordan (Sunny Day Real Estate). Following the announcement of Outbreak Fest’s first wave of artist performances for their Manchester, UK, events on June 14 and 15, 2025, the festival has launched their debut London show. The show will take will host a special one-day, multi-stage event in London, UK, on June 13, 2025.
