12 Songs To Dedicate To Your Music Lovin’ Mom This Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is fast approaching, meaning it’s time to prep your brunches, order nice flowers, and make a sick playlist for your mom, grandma, older sister, and/or whoever had a hand in making you the rockstar you are today. While we can’t order an Edible Arrangement for you, we have handpicked our favorite tracks that honor all forms of motherhood and womanhood.  Stereotypically, pop-punkers and modern rockers are associated with hating their hometowns and hurling all their angst at their parents. From twenty one pilots’ breakout single “House Of Gold” all the way to Miley Cyrus’ 2019 feminist anthem “Mother’s… Read more »

A.F.I. Discusses Memorable 'Mother's Day'

A.F.I. is on the road in support of its latest and most successful effort Sing The Sorrow. The band has a rare off day this Sunday (May 11) which is Mother’s Day. A.F.I. singer/songwriter Davey Havoc remembers an uncomfortable Mother’s Day on the road where the band was stranded in the middle of nowhere. “Grand Island, Nebraska. Stones' Svengali Recounts Street Fighting Days

Long before gun-toting rap stars roamed America, the first manager of the Rolling Stones was terrorizing “Swinging” London, throwing errant journalists out of windows and others off bridges. Accompanied by a thuggish bodyguard, teenage pop Svengali Andrew Loog Oldham was said to be quite the rogue 40 years ago: Sporting a cape, he would careen around the city in his Mini Cooper, speakers blaring from the roof of the tiny car. This is not all completely true – especially the bit about the cape – but the anecdotes and rumors metamorphosed into “facts” over the years, a consequence of the… Read more »

THICK Shares All-Too-Relatable New Single, “Mother”

Brooklyn’s premier punk duo THICK is back with an all-too-relatable track, “Mother” via Epitaph Records. And no—it’s not something to play for your mom this Mother’s Day. Preceded by the devastating “Father,” the new single has a lot to say about romantic relationship dynamics. “’Mother’ is a shoutout to all the caretakers in relationships who are sick and tired of falling into that role. It’s an easy trap to fall into. You start a relationship with love and care, then start to carry the burden of your partner’s wounds, becoming the parental figure, and wanting to heal them more than… Read more »

A lot has changed in Rachel Platten’s life since her last release in 2020. Over the last three years, the “Fight Song” singer has gone from a mother of one to a mother of two. She welcomed her first daughter Violet into the world in 2019 and her second daughter Sophie in 2021. While her life has gone up and down through happiness and struggles, Platten’s first single in three years, “Girls,” pulled from an upcoming larger collection of new music, is a reflection on female strength. “Girls” follows the same vein of empowerment that Platten has always injected into… Read more »
