Los Angeles – Veteran record executive Artie Mogull died Nov. 25 in Beverly Hills of heart failure. He was 77. Mogull began his music industry career in 1949 with Tommy Dorsey’s orchestra. He was involved in management during the ’60s and early ’70s, working with Peter, Paul & Mary, Kenny Rogers, Helen Reddy, Deep Purple, Electric Light Orchestra, Laura Nyro and Olivia Newton-John. He served as an executive at Warner Bros. Records, Capitol Records and MCA Records; in 1976 he was named president/chairman of United Artists Records, which he later purchased.
