As former President Jimmy Carter nailed down the front porch of a home under construction Wednesday, singer Harry Connick Jr. gave an update on the progress being made in the Upper 9th Ward, an area slow to recover from Hurricane Katrina. Jane Carter, the 44-year-old mother of pop singers Aaron Carter and Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, was arrested and charged with battery in an alleged attack on her estranged husband’s girlfriend, Ginger Elrod. The alleged incident took place the evening of Tuesday, January 13th at Robert Carter’s Marathon, Florida home. According to a report filed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Carter used a rock to break a window and then entered her husband’s home in the Florida Keys. The Lynyrd Skynyrd/Sammy Hagar “Party Of A Lifetime” tour has come to an end, as Skynyrd has pulled out of the remaining dates due to guitarist Gary Rossington’s health. Rossington had open-heart surgery in February and was cleared to tour in support of their new album Vicious Cycle. However, Skynyrd dropped some shows in recent days because of Rossington’s medical fatigue, and they’ve now scrapped the rest of the coheadlining tour, after Rossington was diagnosed as having suffered a mild seizure. On August 7 Jive Records will release Oh Aaron, the follow up album to Aaron Carter’s multiplatinum Aaron’s Party (Come Get It). This thirteen year old pop phenomenon’s Jive debut, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. “Oh Aaron,” the first single from the album of the same name, features a video directed by Andrew MacNaughtan.
