Tenacious D, aka rock-comedy duo Kyle Gass and Jack Black, are ready to “Rock Your Socks” off for a good cause. The run kicks off on October 21 in Columbus, OH, at Mershon Auditorium and wraps up on October 26 at Bryce Jordan Center in State College, PA. On Instagram, the band shared, “The election is around the corner and we are… Read more »
Iconic comedy rock duo, Tenacious D are back after a 5 year hiatus to bring fans their newest track, “Video Games“. The goofy song packs a lot of punchlines for only being a little over a minute in length. The joke here is that the band is too old to play video games, except for every once in a while, of course. Tenacious D shout out God of War, Fall Out 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2 in the new track and fans of these games are sure to get a good laugh. Jack Black and Kyle Gass had this… Read more »

We love music. We love movies. We really love when both of these worlds collide. Actors playing in bands isn’t new, from Jared Leto with 30 Seconds To Mars to Jack Black with Tenacious D. But today I want to talk about the actors you had no idea used to be or still are in bands.
This week I have Tour Director and Production Manager Chris Paules. He’s toured over the years and continues to tour with a lot of credible bands making their shows come to life (The Midnight, Tenacious D, etc…) he was also once the guitar player in punk band Broadway Calls. We talk about how we met, as well as what it entails to do his job.
In one of the most unexpected and delightful moments from this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, host Jack Black fully embraced his inner emo with a pitch-perfect parody of My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome To The Black Parade.” During the “Goth Kid On Vacation” musical skit, dressed in the classic Black Parade marching band jacket, a long black wig, and standing atop a marching band float, Black hilariously embodied MCR frontman Gerard Way as he belted out the song’s iconic opening line: “When I was a young boy…” The Tenacious D frontman and School Of Rock star leaned into the emo theatrics,… Read more »
Have you ever met someone who listens to pop but has an unexpected infatuation with heavy metal, too? It’s a plot twist that proves that “range” in music consumption is possible in a world full of gatekeepers and genre boundaries. This range extends beyond music fans. Underneath the guise of mainstream music stardom, some of our favorite pop artists have underground projects to experiment within the depths of metal breakdowns, screams, and unrelenting riffage. True artistry knows no bounds and sometimes even pop artists need a break from their typical musical formulas. Here are three beloved mainstream household names who have… Read more »
