Kanye, Winehouse likely Grammy shoo-ins

Kanye West and Amy Winehouse each have had a rough year. He weathered the death of his mother last month, and she has been battling health issues that forced her to cancel scores of shows. But West and Winehouse may at least get some good news at Thursday’s Grammy nominations, where industry insiders predicted they were likely to garner multiple nods. Grammy-nominated producer Sean Garrett said West was a sure bet. The rapper’s third album, “Graduation,” had the year’s biggest debut, selling nearly 1 million copies in its first week, an amazing feat during the industry’s current struggles. Ticketmaster Wants to be Transparent

Many were disappointed when the court case against Ticketmaster was dismissed. In case you missed it, the event ticketing site has a bit of a monopoly, and it’s gotten out of hand. Now they are saying that they’ll be more transparent for customers looking to buy tickets. According to Billboard, CEO of Live Nation, Michal Rapnio, said in an investor call, “We’ve got to now go out and do a much better job, so policymakers and consumers understand how the business operates. We’ve historically not had a big incentive to shout out loud that venues are charging high service fees… Read more »

Album Review: Queen of Me – Shania Twain

“You can be king of everything, because I’m busy being the queen of me” Us pop-punk kids have top-tier taste in music. Everything from blink-182 to Simple Plan to Paramore. We love the music that cuts deep and makes you want to get up and smash into things. We have to admit, sometimes that love for the pop side of the genre takes over. Maybe it even bleeds into a bit of country-pop. We know we have our Swifties out there in the scene.
