Actor Michael Pitt’s plans to release a new album and tour the U.S. have been defended by his label boss, Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore, who describes the indie star as an ‘artist’. Last we heard from Garbage, in the fall of 2005, the group was going on an indefinite hiatus. Eleven years after his death, Kurt Cobain’s hometown has finally embraced the legacy of the late grunge icon. Last week, the title of one of Nirvana’s signature hits, “Come as You Are,” was added to the “Welcome to Aberdeen” sign on the anniversary of Cobain’s April 5, 1994 suicide. “I think it’s a good idea, and it’s about time,” Kurt’s grandfather, Leland Cobain told Aberdeen, Washington’s local newspaper, The Daily World. “I drive by there every day and look for it.
