Linkin Park has announced rescheduled dates from this spring’s Projekt Revolution tour. The band missed the opening date of the tour in Rochester, New York, and a few others dates later, due to singer Chester Bennington’s throat infection. The band will play Rochester on July 22 at the Blue Cross Arena with Cold, Jurassic 5 and Mudvayne; Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 29 with Cold and Mudvayne; and Wichita, Kansas July 30 with Cold and possibly Mudvayne. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington will not need surgery for the chest and stomach pains that caused him to check into a hospital for nine days on May 30, and is feeling much better, a spokesperson at the band’s label said. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington was released from a Los Angeles hospital Monday (June 9), according to a spokesperson for the band’s label. Bennington had checked into the facility on May 30 complaining of intense chest and stomach pains. Doctors determined that either a parasite or an intestinal disorder was likely responsible for the ailment. Over the weekend, co-vocalist Mike Shinoda told Los Angeles’ KROQ-FM that Bennington would probably need surgery once the exact cause of his illness was pinpointed. The band’s sophomore Warner Bros. album sold 265,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, bringing its two-week sales total above the 1 million mark. Metallica, Blur, and Linkin Park will headline the U.K.’s Reading and Leeds festivals this August. The events begin Aug. 22 with Leeds Festival headliner Metallica and Reading headliner Linkin Park. Linkin Park moves over to Leeds on Aug. 23, while Blur takes over headlining duties at Reading. The final day of the event will see Blur at Leeds and Metallica at Reading. Linkin Park’s latest release has made a meteoric rise to the top of the album chart, debuting at the No. 1 spot. “Meteora” sold more than 810,000 copies during its first week in stores, according to industry figures released Wednesday. Thousands of Linkin Park Underground fan club members questioning whether they got their money’s worth from their $25 initiation fee are about to be silenced. The band will play 10 free shows in major cities across the country, and LPU members have first dibs on tickets, the band’s publicist said.
