Gorillaz Bag Six Berths For MTV Euro Nods


Gorillaz, the cartoon indie-beat band formed by Damon Albarn of the rock band Blur, picked up six nominations, including best group, in the eighth annual MTV Europe Music Awards noms, announced here Tuesday. Gorillaz will compete with Destiny’s Child, Limp Bizkit, R.E.M. and U2 for the best group prize in a ceremony to be aired live Nov. 8 on MTV’s worldwide channels from Frankfurt, Germany. Timbaland Launches Label


“I’m a great producer, so people need me more than I need them,” boasts Timbaland, who is building a roster for his new Beat Club label, an imprint of Interscope Records. The Norfolk, Virginia, producer behind bouncy hit albums by Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, and his own Timbaland and Magoo says he’s looking for the next generation of stars. 'Lady Marmalade,' 'N Sync Top MTV Video Awards

Fatboy Slim Dominate MTV Video Awards

Aaliyah Bests Blige, Slipknot For #1 Spot


Music fans mourning the passing of Aaliyah – and those curious about her legacy – will push the late R&B star to the top of next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart. Despite strong debuts from Mary J. Blige and Slipknot, Aaliyah’s eponymous album will vault to #1 on the albums chart next week, a month and a half after its initial release.
