Pennywise To Gig In The Midwest In January


Pennywise will bring its brand of punk rock to the Midwest next month, beginning January 16 in Columbus, Ohio. The Southern California group has a half-dozen dates currently on the itinerary, all to also feature the Deviates and Boy Sets Fire. As well, Pennywise has lined up dates in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada for this weekend (January 4-5). The Deviates and Lars Frederiksen & the Bastards, featuring Rancid’s guitarist, will also appear. STP's Weiland Ordered To Attend Counseling After Guilty Plea


Scott Weiland pleaded guilty to domestic battery in Las Vegas Justice Court Wednesday and was ordered to attend 26 counseling sessions. Judge Douglas Smith approved a plea bargain that will dismiss the case against the Stone Temple Pilots singer in six months if the counseling sessions are completed and there are no further incidents. Weiland was arrested in November at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for allegedly grabbing his wife’s arms and pushing her against the wall several times. Nelly Furtado will try to extend the enormous success of her debut release, Whoa, Nelly!, next year with her Burn in the Spotlight Tour. Furtado will launch the tour in Victoria, British Columbia, on January 28th and play the West coast for the first leg. MTV to make Shakur documentary


MTV plans to make a documentary film on the life of Tupac Shakur, the 25-year-old rap star killed in a 1996 drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. The Canadian singer, who left the music industry two years ago to start a family with her manager/husband, Rene Angelil, has recorded an album for release in March, her spokesperson said Thursday. Details on the release will be announced in January.
