The Fest has announced the 2023 line-up and it is stacked with hundreds of incredible bands. Celebrating its 21st year, The Fest will be held in Gainesville, FL on October 27th, 28th, and 29th. Headliners this year include Thursday, Decendents and Less Than Jake, with both Thursday and Less Than Jake performing special album shows. Hardcore three-piece Drain have released their boisterous cover of the Descendents’ 1985 single “Good Good Things” via Epitaph Records. The classic punk-rock track which assisted in launching the Descendents into fame was featured on their sophomore album I Don’t Want to Grow Up. Drain’s rendition of “Good Good Things” captures a similar essence as the Descendents’ version, albeit with a more modern punk twist that showcases vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro’s melodic prowess. This week I have Kelly Green from hardcore band Fight The Future, she was also in one of my first national act bands called “The Teen Tragedies.” I joined the band when I was 15 and we started playing shows all over Utah and eventually toured the entire west coast and midwest in America. This was the band that started it all for me, hear our stories about how we met and how we both navigated our careers.
Alexisonfire released Otherness, their 5th LP and first in 13 years, back in June and are on tour in support. The album stays true to Alexisonfire’s signature post-hardcore sound; battling vocal styles between Dallas Green’s sweeping melodies and George Pettit’s frenetic screamo. The Ontario born group came to New York City’s South Street seaport for a rooftop show at Pier 17 on Saturday, July 23rd.
