Melissa Etheridge married Tammy Lynn Michaels in California on Saturday (September 20), despite the fact that the state does not recognize same-sex unions. The 42-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer and the 28-year-old up-and-coming actress dated for two years before tying the knot. Arista recording artist P!nk is in the final stages of completing her hotly expected third album, entitled TRY THIS – in stores November 11th, it was announced today by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, president and CEO, Arista Records. The first single (and opening track) on TRY THIS will be “Trouble,” co-written by P!nk with Tim Armstrong (of alt-rock heroes Rancid), who also produced the track. Kid Rock, Justin Timberlake, Shania Twain, Luther Vandross, Celine Dion, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Missy Elliott and Sean Paul are among the artists receiving multiple nominations for the American Music Awards (AMAs). “American Idol” second-season runner-up Clay Aiken also received his first awards show nod, with a nomination for favorite pop/rock male artist. Grandma Sues Eminem


It’s about time Grandma finally stood up to Eminem. A 70-year-old California woman is suing the rap superstar, claiming he illegally sampled a section of music from her late husband’s film score for his 1999 debut, The Slim Shady LP, the Smoking Gun Website reports. Music Legend Johnny Cash Dies at 71


Johnny Cash, “The Man in Black” who became a towering figure in American music with such hits as “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I Walk the Line,” and “A Boy Named Sue,” died Friday. He was 71. “Johnny died due to complications from diabetes, which resulted in respiratory failure,” Cash’s manager, Lou Robin, said in a statement issued by Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Simon, Garfunkel May Unite for New Tour


It looks like Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel are reuniting for a concert tour. The former duo has reserved dates at concert arenas across the country, said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar, a concert industry trade publication.
