Alanis highlights a sorry Silent Night – Review


Star 98.7’s Not So Silent Night certainly won’t be remembered as the most exciting local holiday concert this year, especially considering the high ticket price and modest artist lineup, though attendees were treated to a sneak of Alanis Morissette’s upcoming third U.S. studio album. The popular SoCal punk-ska-rock act played a full 40-minute eight-song set for fans at Virgin during the exclusive performance. Sources say “The band gave it the energy of a Madison Square Garden performance mixing old and new songs alike. It Wasn't Shaggy: Remixers Tweak Reggae Singer's Hotshot


If Shaggy’s “Keep’n It Real” and “Freaky Girl” sound different in February, and you ask the pop-reggae veteran what happened, don’t be surprised if his response is “It Wasn’t Me.” He’s not kidding. For Hotshot Ultramix (February 12), Shaggy allowed remixers such as Punch, Sting International and Gordon Dukes to play doctor with those tunes as well as other Hotshot (2000) tracks including “Dance & Shout,” “Hope” and “Leave It to Me,” according to an MCA Records spokesperson. Ramones, Tom Petty, Talking Heads To Join Rock Hall


A few punks, a scruffy “Refugee” and the most sex-crazed chef on television are crashing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Punk rock pioneers the Ramones and Talking Heads, Southern rockers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and soul singer Isaac Hayes will lead the class of 2002 when they are inducted into the rock hall on March 18, organizers announced Thursday (December 13). Recording Academy Announces 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award and Trustees Award Recipients


Recipients of the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award and Trustees Awards were announced today by Michael Greene, President/CEO of the Recording Academy. Goo Goo Dolls Put Finishing Touches on 'Gutterflower' for 2002


The Goo Goo Dolls are in a Los Angeles studio putting finishing touches on their seventh album, Gutterflower. Band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin have recorded twelve songs for the disc which is due out in 2002. Gutterflower is being produced by Rob Cavallo (Dizzy Up The Girl).
