Spears Gets Cosmopolitan Award

After hearing praise from Cosmopolitan Editor in Chief Kate White, publisher Susan Plagemann and her own mother at the magazine’s Fun Fearless Female Award luncheon on Monday, Spears spent only a minute at the podium thanking organizers.

From her seat at The Four Seasons restaurant, however, Spears seemed to enjoy a series of taped congratulatory messages from Destiny’s Child, Celine Dion and boyfriend Justin Timberlake of ‘N Sync. The singer laughed and turned a little red when Timberlake called her “sexy.”

“I really agree with your selection!” Lynne Spears told those attending the luncheon. “It’s quite a whirlwind lately she’s (Britney’s) had…. She’s had fun every minute.”

The 20-year-old’s new song, “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” is featured in her upcoming movie, “Crossroads,” which opens in the United States on Feb. 15.

Spears was chosen for the magazine’s award because she brings out the fun and fearless side in other women, said White, who admitted that she sometimes uses a hairbrush as a “microphone” and pretends to be the pop star.
