Dave Shapiro—a well-respected music industry executive who opened doors for hundreds of alternative artists in the scene—has tragically passed away today, May 22, 2025, in a small jet plane crash in San Diego, CA. Riot Fest will celebrate its 20th anniversary this summer with a stacked return to Douglass Park in Chicago, running September 19–21. The milestone weekend will be headlined by blink-182, Weezer, and Green Day, each anchoring a different day. blink-182 kicks things off Friday, Weezer takes the stage Saturday for a full-album performance of The Blue Album, and Green Day will bring the celebration to a close on Sunday. Following their tour with Dropkick Murphys and Teenage Bottlerocket, as well as a number of festival performances, The Menzingers are slated to hit the road with special guests Lucero and Queen Of Jeans. The tour will kick off in Cleveland, OH, on May 8 before wrapping up on June 8 in McKees Rocks, PA. The wait is OVER! Hot Mulligan‘s brand new album Why Would I Watch is finally out in the world for everyone’s audible pleasures. The Fest has announced the 2023 line-up and it is stacked with hundreds of incredible bands. Celebrating its 21st year, The Fest will be held in Gainesville, FL on October 27th, 28th, and 29th.
