Linkin Park To Join STP, Staind On Family Values

Eerie rap-metal sextet Linkin Park will join Stone Temple Pilots and angst-ridden hitmakers Staind on the third edition of Family Values this fall. “As it stands right now, it’ll be Stone Temple Pilots, with us playing before them and Linkin Park playing before us, and then two unknown bands that I’m sure will rock also,” Staind frontman Aaron Lewis said. A source close to Linkin Park confirmed the Southern California group is on the trek. Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland said in April that STP would top the bill. Family Values producer John Scher said Monday (June 25) that… Read more »

D12 Not Sorry For The Things It Says On 'Devil's Night'

Even in its early days of release, Devil’s Night-the new album from D12, the Detroit rap group that includes solo superstar Eminem-is drawing criticism for its lyrical content about drugs, booze, weapons, raping grandmothers, having sex with pit bulls, and exacting violent revenge on enemies. This certainly isn’t news to Eminem fans, who have grown used to the “Parental Advisory” stickers that grace his albums, as well as Devil’s Night. And that certainly hasn’t been enough to keep it from blowing out of stores, with an expected debut at Number One in next week’s Billboard. MC Proof, who co-founded D12… Read more »

Bad Religion Drummer Forced Into Retirement

Southern California punk stalwarts Bad Religion were forced to cancel their European tour due to drummer Bobby Schayer’s shoulder injury. Moreover, the damaged rotator cuff will take him out of the band’s lineup permanently. The injury prohibits Schayer from lifting his arm above his shoulder, effectively ending his drumming career, according to the band’s publicist. Suicidal Tendencies drummer Brooks Wackerman is slated to replace the fallen percussionist. Schayer’s injury has “left us stunned and greatly saddened,” the bandmembers posted on their official Web site (www.badreligion.com). “His doctor tells us that he has lost a very significant amount of motion in… Read more »

D12 Doesn't Mind Being Seen As Eminem's Group

Just out is Devil’s Night, the highly anticipated album from D12, the Detroit rap collective that features solo superstar Eminem, who executive produced the album. The group’s critics-at least those who aren’t attacking its songs about violence, sex, and drugs-are using Eminem’s involvement to discount the contributions of the group’s other five members. But MC Proof (Deshaun Holton), who co-founded the band a decade ago, tells LAUNCH that D12 sees nothing but advantages to Eminem’s stature. Some people look at us, like, ‘This is gonna be Eminem’s group. You’re gonna be in his shadow.’ They don’t realize how positive and… Read more »

Deep Dish Delivery Puts House Spin On 'NSYNC

‘NSYNC just keep digging deeper into the dance music community. First they recruited BT to produce Celebrity’s first single, “Pop,” and now they’ve hired Deep Dish to remix it. The Washington, D.C., house duo, who remixed Madonna’s “Music” and were nominated for the Remixer of the Year Grammy, sought to give the song a wide range of emotions. “It sounds like Basement Jaxx on estrogen,” Deep Dish’s Sharam Tayebi said Thursday (June 14). “It has all these crazy elements, but it’s tough. It has dark elements to it, but it’s kind of a happy song.” Deep Dish’s remix, which was… Read more »
