The wait is over! Epic recording artists, Tenacious D will release their debut album on September 25th, 2001. The self-titled, TENACIOUS D, was produced by the Dust Brothers and recorded at The Boat and Neil Diamond’s ArcAngel studio in Los Angeles, California. Sonic Foundry Inc. announced its partnership with Reprise Records to create and host the Depeche Mode “Exciter” Remix contest at Sonic Foundry’s ACIDplanet.com website. Two tracks from Depeche Mode’s latest release, “Exciter,” will be available on June 18 for remixing at ACIDplanet (www.acidplanet.com). The first single, “Dream On,” is already a staple of playlists across the country. The second single, “I Feel Loved,” will be going to radio soon. ‘NSYNC just keep digging deeper into the dance music community. First they recruited BT to produce Celebrity’s first single, “Pop,” and now they’ve hired Deep Dish to remix it. The Washington, D.C., house duo, who remixed Madonna’s “Music” and were nominated for the Remixer of the Year Grammy, sought to give the song a wide range of emotions. “It sounds like Basement Jaxx on estrogen,” Deep Dish’s Sharam Tayebi said Thursday (June 14). “It has all these crazy elements, but it’s tough. Hip-hop, in a push to clean up its image, came out Thursday in favor of warning parents about violent and sexually explicit lyrics and said it would organize politically to help the urban poor. Rappers, music executives and black leaders at a Hip-Hop Summit in New York said they would label sexually explicit and violent music, as well as Web sites and posters that promote it. Depeche Mode, the influential British technopop band that has flourished for two decades, kicked off a five-month world tour in Quebec City Monday night, promoting its new songs in an effort to leave behind its 1980s hits and its years of rock ‘n’ roll excess. The early albums of indie rock legends the Replacements have been remastered and will be re-released by Restless Records on July 24th. However, the new CD pressings of the Minneapolis band’s first four Twin/Tone albums – 1981’s Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash, 1982’s Stink EP, 1983’s Hootenanny, and 1984’s landmark Let It Be – won’t contain any bonus tracks or additional artwork. Clear Channel Interactive has selected Equilibrium, an Internet infrastructure company, to help the company automate the creation and delivery of images to its Internet network. Sites within Clear Channel Interactive’s network, which includes more than 1,000 local entertainment destinations, will use Equilibrium’s MediaRich services to give each affiliate radio station the ability to create its own unique web identity on a more frequent basis.
