Sonic Foundry's ACIDplanet To Host And Power Depeche Mode "Exciter'' Remix Contest

Sonic Foundry Inc. announced its partnership with Reprise Records to create and host the Depeche Mode “Exciter” Remix contest at Sonic Foundry’s ACIDplanet.com website.

Two tracks from Depeche Mode’s latest release, “Exciter,” will be available on June 18 for remixing at ACIDplanet (www.acidplanet.com). The first single, “Dream On,” is already a staple of playlists across the country. The second single, “I Feel Loved,” will be going to radio soon. Together, these tracks create a new level of experience for remixers: two songs simultaneously available from a major act, with loops cut direct from the master tapes. Participants in the contest will be able to remix both tracks, and create a new Depeche Mode track by mixing elements from both songs.

“Depeche Mode has always remained at the forefront of electronic music,” remarked Dave Chaimson, Sonic Foundry’s Director of Marketing. “They’re true innovators. We’re proud to work with them and Reprise Records in showcasing ‘Exciter’ and ACID PRO 3.0.”

ACID is Sonic Foundry’s award-winning loop-based music creation tool. Recently upgraded to version 3.0, it contains new features and functions unavailable in any similar application.

ACIDplanet.com, one of the Internet’s leading music websites, is a showcase for ACID artists and home to tens of thousands of musicians and songs. Some of the most popular features on ACIDplanet are remix contests hosted at the site. Past remix events have included Beck, Black Eyed Peas, and the Beastie Boys. More information on ACIDplanet and remix contests can be found at www.acidplanet.com.

The winner of the Depeche Mode “Exciter” Remix Contest will receive Sonic Foundry’s ACID PRO 3.0, Sound Forge 5.0, Vegas Audio 2.0, and five Loops for ACID. Reprise Records is providing a collection of Depeche Mode recordings and merchandise.

“We think this is the first time a band of this renown has made multiple tracks available to its millions of followers,” adds Dave Chaimson. “It’s an unprecedented creative opportunity for Depeche Mode and millions of modern rock fans.”

The “Exciter” album’s ascension up multiple charts promises a major event at ACIDplanet. Professional remixers have recognized and exploited the dance elements in Depeche Mode’s latest album. The contest will make these elements available to other remixers around the world.
