Three months after her riveting official cover release under the banner of Sumerian Records, Poppy unveiled her ferocious rendition of Kittie’s iconic 1999 track, “Spit,” in a blazing live debut performance on August 18 at The Showbox SoDo in Seattle, WA. This performance marked an integral moment of the Godless/Goddess Tour, a journey that shares the spotlight with the dynamically talented PVRIS. The five-track release arrives on listening platforms on Sept. 22 via Loma Vista and is available for pre-order. There is no better band to cover the iconic Freaky Friday track, “Take Me Away” than Meet Me At The Altar. Three incredibly badass women unleashing a fiery new rendition of a song that won all of our emo hearts back in 2003 is exactly what we needed today. It has been exactly twenty years since we were graced with the song in such a memorable and influential film, and now we can appreciate a younger generation taking an absolutely banging new stab at it. Meet Me @ The Altar also gave fans a sick and grungy visual to accompany… Read more »
In the wake of her recent visit to the idobi Studios in North Hollywood, the luminous artist under the banner of Pete Wentz’s DCD2 Records, CARR, cast her radiant presence once again upon our studio stage. With an air of anticipation, she embarked on a stripped-back rendition of her latest opus, the entrancing “Spiral City.” Yet, this was merely a prelude to her masterful reinterpretation of The Kooks‘ classic masterpiece, “Naive.” Enveloped by the skillful harmonies of her guitarist, CARR embarked on a journey of artistic metamorphosis in comparison to her discography. Throughout their So Much For (Tour) Dust setlists, Fall Out Boy have incorporated a handful of cleverly crafted cover songs to inject the crowd with an extra dose of energy and enthusiasm. However, yesterday evening, July 26, the group’s frontman Patrick Stump took the opportunity to pay tribute to honor Sinéad O’Connor following the news of her passing earlier in the day. Across the tour’s 24 dates that have already passed, the four-piece unit has made Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” covers a staple of their setlists. However, last night Stump tackled the 90s ballad, “Nothing… Read more »
Our favorite Arizona band, The Maine have shared an incredible cover of “Cruel Summer” from Taylor Swift’s Lover album. The cover starts with soft, roomy guitars before pushing forward into a synth-driven chorus. John O’Callaghans vocals are somber and beautiful as always. This is a cover we never knew we needed, but are so grateful for. The Maine have also recently announced that they will be re-recording their sophomore album, Black & White. In true Taylor Swift inspired fashion, they are doing this in order to re-claim the record, as it was their only major label release. The Maine’s vocalist John… Read more »
Way back in 2006, Paramore recorded an acoustic rendition of “My Hero” originally by the incredible Foo Fighters. Now, the cover has finally hit streaming services all these years later. Not sure what took them so long to make this decision, but we sure are happy about it. Along with the acoustic version, Paramore also released an electronic mix as well. Last month Hayley Williams joined Foo Fighters on stage in Tennessee at Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival for a guest performance of “My Hero”. Perhaps this beautiful moment inspired the release of the cover. Check out the amazing video… Read more »
