Relient K will embark this weekend on the Winter Wonder Slam tour with Christian hip hop legend and label owner Toby Mac. The tour will take the band north through Canada and down the West coast. You can purchase tickets on the tour’s website.
Two independent record labels are suing Guns ‘n’ Roses and Universal Music Group, alleging that a track off Axl Rose’s Chinese Democracy was copied from electronica artist Ulrich Schnauss.
Marriage was reportedly too “complicated” for rock couple Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley. The couple has reportedly split after three years of marriage. According to Us Weekly, Lavigne, 25, has made Whibley, the 29-year-old lead singer for the band Sum 41, leave their home in Bel Air, Calif. “She dumped him and told him she was leaving him. Kiss will kick off their 35th anniversary tour, dubbed “Kiss Alive 35,” in “Rock City” Detroit. The Gods of Thunder will play two concerts at Motor City’s Cobo Arena, the venue where the band recorded their classic Alive! live album in 1975. To mark the occasion, Kiss will perform Alive! in its entirety at the Cobo shows, as well as their greatest hits and songs off their upcoming album Sonic Boom, out as a Walmart exclusive starting Oct. 6. Alberta rockers Nickelback may have picked up a leading three trophies at the MuchMusic Video Awards last night, giving music critics across the country another reason to groan, but in the end it was all about Lady Gaga’s “flaming boobies.” The critically unpopular group, who picked up three Juno Awards back in March, went into the televised street-oriented awards show – which saw thousands of fans take over the blocks surrounding MuchMusic’s Toronto Queen and John Sts. headquarters – with a leading five MMVA nods, tied with R&B Toronto newcomer Danny Fernandes. Britney Spears’ “Circus” tour is getting an encore. Holly Shakoor, Spears’ publicist, confirms that concerts will be held in several U.S. cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The shows will kick off August 20th in Canada. Concerts are also scheduled for North Carolina, Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas. They will follow Spears’ concerts in London and several other European cities. The 27-year-old singer also announced this week that her tour will go to Australia in November. Spears’ “Circus” tour reached second place in recent box-office gross rankings by Pollstar.
Last week Green Day announced the dates for their massive summer tour supporting May 15th’s 21st Century Breakdown, and now the band has confirmed the venues they’ll be hitting on their 38-date journey across the U.S. and Canada. The band will be playing indoor arenas rather than amphitheaters. The trek starts July 3rd at Seattle’s Key Arena and ends August 25th at Los Angeles’ Forum. A month and a half after their eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, is released, Green Day will hit the road for their first tour in three years, according to the band’s reps. The North American trek kicks off July 3rd in Seattle and heads to Canada. The 38-date journey wraps August 25th in Los Angeles. The band hasn’t announced any venues yet, but when Rolling Stone first listened to Breakdown, we reported the band was looking to book indoor arenas rather than amphitheatres. The lead singer of Australian rock band INXS J.D. Fortune, who was picked to replace the late Michael Hutchence in a contest on a reality TV show, said he has been fired without warning from the band. Fortune, 35, a Canadian rock singer was living out of his car when he won the CBS network’s 2005 reality TV series “Rock Star:INXS.” He became the frontman for the six-man band, taking the place of 37-year-old Hutchence who was found dead in a Sydney hotel room in November 1997 with a coroner ruling he had committed suicide.
