Allen, Lambert ready to launch music careers


Kris Allen’s “American Idol” victory will not alter his marriage or his music. Allen, who has been married for eight months, said he and wife Katy are ready to meet the challenges of fame. “Things are definitely going to change, but we’re really strong and she’s really cool, so we don’t have any questions that everything’s going to be fine,” Allen told a teleconference Friday. Amy Winehouse hospitalized, nixes homecoming show


Just when they thought she was in, they pulled her back out. In what is likely a surprise to no one, Amy Winehouse has canceled plans to perform in London next week in what would have been her first U.K. appearance of the year. Amy Winehouse rushed to hospital in St. Lucia


Amy Winehouse has been taken to the hospital in St. Lucia for the second time this month. The singer fell ill at her rented house on the island, forcing friends to call an ambulance. It is under three weeks since Winehouse was last taken to hospital in St. Lucia, on May 2nd. No details were given as to why Winehouse was taken to the hospital on this occasion. She has since been discharged. NEW YORK – You can forgive some of the Green Day fans packed inside a Manhattan Best Buy if they got a little bit pushy. Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse album release scrapped


It’s been one of the most hotly anticipated albums of 2009 since it was first announced: ” Dark Night of the Soul.” A collaboration between the producer Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, Gorillaz, The Black Keys) and critically acclaimed psych-rock act Sparklehorse (a.k.a. Mark Linkous). But due to unspecified legal issues with EMI Music, though, the project’s official release has been either scrapped altogether or put on indefinite hiatus. Largest pop music archive puts catalog online


NEW YORK — A catalog of the world’s largest archive of popular music – which includes gems like Keith Richards’ old blues records – is going online. The materials at the ARChive of Contemporary Music in Tribeca will be available for public inspection under the agreement with Columbia University  announced last week. The ARChive includes more than 2 million recordings, 3 million photographs, books, press kits, videos and memorabilia. YouTube to launch music site with Universal


NEW YORK —  YouTube and Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music company, said on Thursday they will launch a premium music video Web site as they bid to increase revenue from YouTube ‘s huge usage. The new site will be called Vevo and is expected to launch in coming months, the companies said.
