Linkin Park, P.O.D. Energize New York – Review

The stage’s platforms, ramps and angular slabs of metal made it look like a futuristic factory floor, and Linkin Park proved to be the gleaming machine that keeps the warehouse in brisk business. In concert at Nassau Coliseum Sunday night, the band was precise and efficient, the members taking on their roles like theater veterans. They ran from side to side without colliding, waved their arms in tandem, leapt from oversized milk crates and waded into the crowd to spread the Linkin love. And for added flair, they brought out an acrobatic breakdancer during “Nobody’s Listening.” Their musical performance was… Read more »

Kelly Stokes Osbourne Vs. Corgan Feud, Audioslave Rocks Claus Fest

Kelly Osbourne stoked hostilities between the Osbourne family and former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan at the New York City area radio show, Claus Fest, in Uniondale, New York on Thursday night (December 12). Corgan and Sharon Osbourne had a tiff several years ago, after she quit as the Pumpkins manager. The feud came alive again at the Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles on December 7. At that show, Kelly’s boyfriend, Bert McCracken of the Used, allegedly tried to trip Corgan, who performed with his new band Zwan. Corgan allegedly struck back by kicking McCracken in the stomach, according… Read more »

Audioslave Deliver Like Santa Claus, Creed Booed At Radio Show

Dashboard Confessional and Jack Johnson played acoustic, and Beck and Coldplay celebrated Christmas, but otherwise KROQ-FM’s annual Almost Acoustic Christmas was a two-day, 20-act festival all about rocking. And the sold-out event was certainly crammed with rock and roll moments, particularly the announced live debut of Audioslave (they played a secret club show the night before), and an amusing rendition of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” orchestrated by Beck and the Flaming Lips and featuring Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba, Johnson and a horribly off-key Juliette Lewis. (Click here for photos from the show.) Audioslave were the talk… Read more »

Rage, Cornell Unshackle Audioslave

Chris Cornell and the remnants of Rage Against the Machine are ready to put the super back in their supergroup. Yes, their hyped off-again, on-again collaboration is back on, and to prove it, they’re releasing an album and planning a tour. After hooking up with much fanfare in early 2001, the group-then toying with the name Civilian-wrote 20 songs, hit the studio with Rick Rubin (who produced the last Rage album) and even signed on as an Ozzfest mainstager. But the project was seemingly scuttled when ex-Soundgarden singer Cornell walked last March. The Ragers-guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and… Read more »

P.O.D. Record Track For Santana Album, Assemble Bonus DVD

Marcos Curiel has long been a fan of Carlos Santana, so when the P.O.D. guitarist discovered that the jam rocker wanted P.O.D. to record a song for his upcoming album, Curiel felt so alive he thought he could… well, you know how the song goes. “Every chance we get, we try to go to a Santana show because they just rock live,” enthused Curiel. “We’ve always been a band that’s open to so many different styles of music, so when we got the opportunity to work with Santana, we jumped on it.” P.O.D. got that opportunity after their producer, Howard… Read more »

Papa Roach Plans Hip-Hop Medley For Anger Management

Papa Roach’s upcoming album, lovehatetragedy, may find the group gravitating from rap-rock to a more straightforward rock sound, but that doesn’t mean the band has abandoned hip-hop entirely. The group plans to pay homage to the style as part of its set on the upcoming Anger Management tour, which also features Eminem, Ludacris, and Xzibit. Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix said. “We’re gonna do, like, a medley of, like, just flip a bunch of hip-hop classics, like the hooks, so, you know, for the fans that are like, ‘OK, we like this band but…’ Like, in the middle of the… Read more »

Ex-Lucy Pearl/En Vogue Singer's Solo LP Due In October

After spending years in En Vogue, recording an album with the short-lived Lucy Pearl and contributing backing vocals to a number of artists, Dawn Robinson has decided to keep her silky, soulful voice all to herself. Robinson’s debut solo album, Dawn, will hit stores October 16, with the sassy, uptempo single “Envious” leading the way at radio in mid-September.
