Marilyn Manson, Disturbed’s David Draiman, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, Static-X’s Wayne Static, and Orgy’s Jay Gordon have been drafted to sing five tracks co-written by Korn’s Jonathan Davis and multi-instrumentalist Richard Gibbs for the upcoming “Queen of the Damned” soundtrack. Pop star Janet Jackson, whose current North American tour got off to a rocky start last summer, said Tuesday she may retire from the road after the jaunt ends next month because of the exhaustion. Jackson, 35, launched her “All For You” tour in July, and several shows in the first few weeks were either canceled or postponed because of production or health problems. Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson and *NSYNC’s Lance Bass were among approximately 100 celebrities and everyday heroes that carried the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic torch as it made its way through downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday (January 15). Bass used the torch to ignite a cauldron on the back of a pickup truck. The truck carried the flame from Orange County city Costa Mesa, approximately 50 miles south of Los Angeles, to L.A.’s Olvera Street, where runners resumed the relay. Supporters of the famed Stone Pony music club, which has fostered the careers of rock ‘n’ roll greats like Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith, vowed on Thursday to save the club from the wrecking ball. Developers are proposing to tear the Stone Pony down to make way for retail complexes and condominiums along the waterfront of Asbury Park, a century-old resort which has deteriorated in the last three decades under the weight of crime and unemployment.
