The Gunz Show got you a special Valentine present this year—and it’s much better than flowers and chocolate.
Tune in as Gunz invites Mod Sun to the show ahead of the release of Internet Killed The Rockstar. The album drops this Friday (2/12) and marks a new era in Mod’s career, so the two spend some time looking back on the journey that led him here. They’ll also chat about Mod’s return to drumming, working with Avril Lavigne, and more.
Later, Teenage Wrist calls in. Their new collection Earth Is A Black Hole drops this week with Epitaph Records, so Gunz asks the band about their history, the sound they’re creating, and what it was like making an album in LA during quarantine.
Tune in as Jaret and Gary fire up the mics and invite their pal Tom Higgenson to the show. As the frontman of the Plain White T’s, the drummer of TLB, and the founder of an independent record label, he’s what being a rockstar dad is all about.
When the guys catch up, they reminisce on the early days of their careers. They also discuss some of Tom’s biggest hits, sharing anecdotes and origin stories about tracks like “Hey There Delilah” and “1,2,3,4”. Later he dives into conversation about his new band TLB, his record label Humans Were Here, and more.
Along with the career success he’s seen in the past decade, Tom has entered another chapter of life—fatherhood. Listen in as he chats about his son Lennon and how he makes him a priority despite his insane work schedule.
After a two week break while Jaret and Gary dealt with their own COVID situations, The Rockstar Dad Show is back! The two talk about their experience with the virus and the symptoms they experienced before introducing this week’s guest.

If you bite the hand, get louder and defiant A couple of years ago when reviewing grandson’s first EP, a modern tragedy vol. 1, I referred to the multi-talented musician as being an artist to help you survive today’s uneasy world. With the release of his debut album, Death of an Optimist, I’m even more convinced that if anyone is going to soundtrack a revolution, it will be grandson. For an album that clocks in at less than forty minutes, Death of an Optimist takes us on a whirlwind journey that perfectly encapsulates this chaotic year and what it means… Read more »

The Rockstar Dad Show is inviting a rockstar family to the air this week! Listen in as Rick, Miles, and Daxx Nielsen join Jaret and Gary for a conversation.
As the lead guitarist of Cheap Trick, Rick Nielsen has lived an interesting life and his sons have followed in his footsteps with their own careers in music. Daxx is a drummer who’s played with many bands over the years, including with Cheap Trick. Miles is the frontman of a band called Mike Nielsen and The Rusted Hearts (more on that in a bit).
When the group calls in they look back at their history both personal and professional, from stories about Guns n’ Roses to family dynamics while touring. They also chat about The Nielsen Trust, quarantining with kids, being versatile with your music and more. Tune in and make sure you stick around until the end to hear “Hands Up” by Miles’s band!
