All-American Rejects Make 'Time Stand Still' With New Single

Subtlety is not a trademark for the All-American Rejects, but neither is specificity. Most of the band’s songs address bad relationships and broken hearts, but details of the scarring experiences are often missing. On the group’s next single, vocalist Tyson Ritter sings, “Life is turned, the day I knew you would leave/ I can barely breathe/ Can you hear me scream?” That’s about as close as the Rejects get to confessional revelation. So what exactly is the tune about? “It’s about 96-beats-per-minute and it’s in the key of C major,” quipped bassist Nick Wheeler in a most unhelpful manner. “It’s… Read more »

The party venue remains a closely guarded secret. Local media have speculated Jagger will celebrate at the British Embassy in Prague’s Thun Palace or at the Four Seasons Hotel. Prince wants his music back. Just a month before he releases the first DVD from his New Power Generation Music Club, the club has sent its paid members a list of album rarities Prince would like returned in his continuing struggle to guard against bootlegging and to control his own sonic real estate. In an e-mail sent Wednesday to the NPGMC, fans were asked to “Help the cause!” and look for “anything with a WB logo that was unofficially released during Prince’s tenure at that label.” Among the suggested discs to send in, according to a list provided by the… Read more »

Sum 41 Abandon 'Infected' Project, Eager To Spend Money Stupidly

Sum 41 are anxious for sum vacation. The group originally planned on releasing “Over My Head, (Better Off Dead)” as the third single from Does This Look Infected?, but are now questioning whether they want to continue promoting the album. “We’re kind of like, dead right now, so we’re thinking we just might stop,” singer Deryck Whibley said. “We could put out another single and keep going, but we’ve been touring nonstop for a long time and we really want a break, so I think we might want to take six months off.” And there are other reasons Sum 41… Read more »

Eminem Dangles His 'Baby' Jacko-Style, Gives Nauseated Fan His 'M'

Eminem has one-upped Michael Jackson. Spoofing the pop star’s infamous baby-dangling incident that took place last November in Germany, Slim Shady actually tossed his “baby” up in the air on Tuesday in Glasgow, Scotland. No, it wasn’t his daughter, Hailie – this baby was a life-size blonde-haired baby doll, seemingly masked, which a surgical-mask-wearing Em held above the crowd, tossed up, and caught by its head. Of course, he was on a first-floor balcony at the Arthouse Hotel, so the doll was in no danger. Just in case that stunt seemed a little nasty, Eminem practiced a little preemptive redemption… Read more »

The North American run will kick off July 5 in Las Vegas and close Aug. 3 in Houston. A European tour with stops at England’s Reading and Leeds festivals will follow. Mitchell still has some trepidation about the travel involved with touring, a fact he realized recently when visiting the band 311 at one of its gigs. “When I stepped onto their bus, I had this really… Read more »

Mick Jagger Slams Justin Timberlake

It seems that Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is no fan of Justin Timberlake. Jagger said, “I’ve watched Justin, but every single move he does is stolen,” according to Britain’s itv.com. Jagger added, “I like Robbie Williams more-at least he’s original.” Regarding his own band and career, Jagger said, “Image is everything in this game. You have to perform good shows, look good, and have good songs, no matter how old you are. And we do all that.” The Stones are in the midst of European dates on their Licks world tour. The next show is Friday (June 20) in… Read more »
