Andrew W.K. Hungry on "Wolf"

Party metal evangelist Andrew W.K. will release his second album, The Wolf, on September 9th. The singer settled on the the title after meeting resistance from retailers to the record’s original title, “Blow Your Bone.” W.K. recorded the twelve-track set, the follow-up to his 2000 debut I Get Wet, in New York this winter. “There could be as many as a hundred tracks on each song, all kinds of keyboards,” he said at the time, and he made good on the threat. The songs on The Wolf, even more than Wet’s hedonistic anthems, are stacked with Journey-like layers of soaring… Read more »

Bowling Make Soup From Blink-182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte

Being nominated for a Grammy hasn’t changed the boys of Bowling for Soup. At all. The pop-punk foursome are up to their old tricks on a just reissued version of their 2002 breakthrough, Drunk Enough to Dance. The album, which spawned the Best Pop Performance Grammy-nominated single “Girl All the Bad Guys Want” and sold nearly 200,000 copies, has been augmented with a typically tongue-in-cheek take on A Flock of Seagulls’ new wave staple “I Ran (So Far Away)” as well as the new tracks “Punk Rock 101” and “Star Song.” “We thought we were working on the follow-up to… Read more »

The End For Music Retailers?

In late April, Madonna gave a rare in-store concert before 400 fans to plug her new American Life album. Outside the event, which took place at Tower Records in New York’s Greenwich Village, another 2,000-plus fans thronged. For years, Tower has harnessed such star power to burnish its credentials as a purveyor of hipness. “It was the buzz around town,” boasts store manager David Montes of the Madonna love-in. But the splashy appearance obscured a harsh backstage truth: Tower Records is in such deep trouble that its parent, privately held MTS Inc. in West Sacramento, has put the company on… Read more »

Britney Spears Wax Figure To Get Inflatable Breasts

Britney Spears’ wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s museum in central London will be enhanced with inflatable breasts that pulsate in time to music, according to Reuters. The wax figure will be modeled from one of the singer’s videos in which she dances around a pole. The Spears wax figure will join the likes of other new “interactive” figures such as Jennifer Lopez, who blushes when someone whispers in her ear, and Brad Pitt, who has squeezable buns. Dance professionals will also be on hand at the museum’s exhibit to teach visitors how to dance like Spears.

Christina Does Her Cher Impression, Justin Fights The Screams At Tour Kickoff – Review

With ice on both ears, Justin Timberlake set out to prove that on his own he can accomplish the mission that was set for ‘NSYNC – to generate a little respect for pop. On Wednesday, the crowd at the sold-out America West Arena turned the venue into a balls-out dance club for the opening night of Timberlake and Christina Aguilera’s Justified and Stripped Tour. The fans, most of whom were women in their late teens and early 20s, screamed at Justin and Christina’s every move and word. Aguilera’s set began with images of her on a video screen showing her… Read more »

Justified And Stripped Preview: Timberlake Talks Tour

Hoards of teenage girls are racing to Phoenix’s America West Arena for Wednesday’s Justified and Stripped Tour kickoff, but if Justin Timberlake’s recent European outing is any indication, they are not the only ones. Just before taking a London stage two weeks ago, the ‘NSYNC star estimated the average concertgoer on the trek was 26 or 27, and he said he’d seen as many adult couples in his audience as mothers and daughters. “I was pleasantly surprised,” Timberlake said. “It’s nice to have so many different cultures and so many different ages and generations in one room.” Timberlake’s portion of… Read more »

Bowling For Soup Talks Bon Jovi And 'Punk Rock 101'

Texas-based punk rockers Bowling For Soup’s latest single to be released to radio is “Punk Rock 101.” The track is one of three that the band went back into the studio to record earlier this year with producer Butch Walker. In addition to “Punk Rock 101,” the band recorded “Smile,” and a cover of the ’80s A Flock of Seagulls hit “I Ran.” The band said that it is planning to re-release their album, Drunk Enough To Dance, with the new tracks included on it. Justin Promises Spectacle, Special Guests On Christina Tour

It’s not entirely official, but it looks like Justin Timberlake’s contribution to this summer’s soundtrack will be Justified’s steamy opening track, “Senorita.” “When I heard [the music] I felt this groovy summer thing,” the singer said Tuesday (May 20), beatboxing the Neptunes beat. So for the lyrics Timberlake crafted a summer tale, creating the subject in his head rather than basing it on his own life, like he did with “Cry Me a River.” “On that sunny day/ Didn’t know I’d meet,” he sings in the opening verse. “Such a beautiful girl/ Walking down the street/ Seen those bright brown… Read more »
