Radio Music Awards Line Up Stars


Tim McGraw, Elton John, the Backstreet Boys and Sugar Ray will headline the third annual Radio Music Awards to be telecast live from the Aladdin Theatre of the Performing Arts on Oct. 26 on ABC. Other performers and presenters scheduled so far include Lenny Kravitz, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Stevie Nicks, Kid Rock, his former girlfriend Sheryl Crow, Snoop Dogg and Nelly Furtado. Whitney Houston's 'Star-Spangled Banner' To Wave Again


While choosing new tunes for her upcoming album, one of Whitney Houston’s old hits inspired some feelings of patriotism. According to her label, Houston, who had been in the process of picking songs for the LP with Arista CEO L.A. Reid before last Tuesday’s terrorist strikes, decided to do her part to help the country recover by agreeing to have her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” re-released. Jackson, Pop Stars Look To Aid Attack Survivors


Reminiscent of 1985’s “We Are the World” fund-raising effort, a group of pop stars led by Michael Jackson plans to record a new song to raise $50 million for survivors and families of victims in Tuesday’s attack on the East Coast. Jackson, R&B trio Destiny’s Child and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys all plan to record a new song, titled “What More Can I Give,” which Jackson will produce, according to a statement Sunday. Musicians From Madonna To Godsmack Pledge Aid


In times of trouble, people often turn to music for comfort. Right now, they can also turn to musicians and the music industry for direct aid, as the industry mobilizes to help victims of Tuesday’s terrorist attacks and their families. Most tours and performances scheduled for this week have either been canceled or postponed, but many of the artists who chose to carry on will be donating portions of their concert proceeds to relief efforts. Britney Titles New CD


Britney Spears has titled her upcoming third album Britney. The album is due out November 6th with the first single, “I’m a Slave 4 U,” ready for radio at the end of the September. A preview of the single is available on Spears’ official site, www.britney.com. The song, which she performed last week at the MTV Video Music Awards, was written and produced by the Neptunes, who have also worked with ‘N Sync and the Backstreet Boys. Music Convention, Concerts Delayed By Attacks


With lower Manhattan cut off to civilian traffic after Tuesday’s terrorist assault on the World Trade Center, officials at independent music magazine publisher CMJ decided to put off for a month its annual Music Marathon & Film Fest, which was to have started Thursday. Fatboy Slim Dominate MTV Video Awards

Britney, 'NSYNC, All-Star Lineup To Record Marvin Gaye Classic


‘NSYNC, Britney Spears, Destiny’s Child, Alicia Keys and Ja Rule are among the artists who are lending their voices this week to an all-star remake of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” to benefit AIDS research. U2 frontman Bono and hip-hop/R&B producer Jermaine Dupri are organizing what Dupri has called a “We Are the World”-like project.
