AIDEN: Chaos and Conviction in '07

After a hectic year which saw the band crisscrossing the globe, performing to sold-out crowds and grabbing several awards, Seattle horror-punksters, Aiden are set to accomplish even more in 2007…with Conviction, which will be the title of their upcoming full-length effort on Victory Records. The band begins pre-production on their eagerly anticipated release January 15, according to leading WiL Francis, 14 songs have already been written. “I’ve never been more excited about new songs,” he declares. “I’ve never written songs like this, mainly because I was scared that it wasn’t “punk” enough. The 7,500-capacity, standing-room-only space served… Read more »

R.E.M. Seek To Reveal 'Beauty Of Music'

Guitar jangle, electronic effects and strings meet again on rock band’s 12th album. Edging as close to the conventional pop realm as they have in their 20-plus years, R.E.M. will release Reveal, an evocative tapestry of reflective, expertly crafted songs, in May. “We’re really interested in finding the beauty of music these days,” said bassist Mike Mills, who clarified that the rock band’s 12th studio album isn’t quite as subdued as it may seem. “Taking a song and seeing how you can find something really lovely inside it, I think that might tend to make it sound a little more… Read more »
