Pulling inspiration from a wide variety of artists including My Chemical Romance, 100 gecs, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, and even Lil Peep, LA-based Eli Hurts has released his highly-anticipated debut solo album, Ouch. Arriving today via Rude Records, Ouch has been brewing in Hurts since childhood. Fans have long awaited Pope’s return to pop-punk after her band Hey Monday called it quits in December 2011 following the re-release of the group’s sophomore EP Candles earlier that year. Following their split, Pope had a storied career in country music after she took home a victory title for The Voice season 3 and even briefly reunited with Hey Monday in 2019 for a Nashville hometown show. This week I have long time friend singer/songwriter Scott Klopfenstein from The Littlest Man Band and Reel Big Fish, I first met him when I had just graduated high school and was on tour with him in 2002, I even got to play the song Take On Me with Reel Big Fish a few times that year. We recently got back in touch a couple years ago and we talk about how he got started, as well as how I recently filled in for his band on a week and a half run to Texas and back. This track comes as the second single on his upcoming EP The Fall Part 1 out later this year.
