Often, when we celebrate Black History Month we think about the Civil Rights leaders and activists of long ago. I remember being in elementary school and feeling like racism was a thing of the past because of the way it was taught. It would be great if we could just talk about social injustices as something that happened long ago but no longer. This week I have drummer Dan Whitesides of the band The Used, we came up together in the Salt Lake City music scene together, he is someone I really looked up to when I was growing up, he was in multiple bands around the city and I hoped one day I’d get to match his abilities as a drummer. We catch up and talk about what it was like for Dan and how he got his start in music all the way to today.
