This week I have long time friend and singer/songwriter A.J. Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer, I met him back in 2009 when I did my first tour with The Bigger Lights and we were opening for them. We’ve kept in touch ever since and have even talked about collaborating in the future, we talk about where A.J. got his start and how we’ve been in each others lives, as well as where The Dangerous Summer is going and has been.
MisterWives returned to New York City on September 15th for an incredible sold-out show at Pier 17, bringing along co-headliner Bishop Briggs and opener Raffaella. Formed in New York City, alt-pop band MisterWives have had a nearly decade-long career spanning different musical eras. The band recently released their fourth studio-album Nosebleeds, taking fans into their new era of punk. This week I have long time friend T.J. Petracca, one of the co founders of popular club night “Emo Nite.” What makes this episode special to me is we grew up in the same town of Park City, UT experiencing the same things, I had already moved to California when T.J. would be experiencing his love for Emo, and Punk Rock. I hear his story on how he was able to build an empire and how he’s been able to help so many bands get attention throughout the years.
The MTV Video Music Awards have been a staple in cross-genre visual celebration since its first broadcast in 1984. Larger-than-life personalities have taken the stage, including Britney Spears and Beyonce all the way to Beastie Boys and Missy Elliot. This year is no different, with the MTV VMAs lineup absolutely stacked with performers. The show will include a dazzling group of stars who are honoring the 50th year of hip-hop, a special pre-show performance featuring NLE Choppa and Sabrina Carpenter, and even a Video Vanguard performance from award recipient Shakira. This week I have DJ Bowie Jane, I met her through Jess Bowen, and they have a radio show together on Idobi as well called “Babes Behind The Beats” where they interview women in music! Bowie Jane is an artist/DJ and she also recently got on CBS’s Big Brother. She didn’t quite go into detail about it, but this interview is from before she got on the show. She reflects about her life coming from Australia to America and everything else in between as I get to know her better on this weeks episode.
This week I have friend/magician Day Mori! I met him from just seeing him around LA, and I remember he blew my mind with a magic trick when we were at Bonnie McKee’s house for the 4th of July in 2022. Ever since then it’s been fun to see Day grow up and learn how he got his love for magic, he even performs at the famous Magic Castle, he also does music and I get his story on how he got from point A to B.
Sad news today for Bring Me The Horizon fans. The band shared in a statement via Instagram that their upcoming record. The album POST HUMAN: NeX GEn was originally slated to drop in just a few short weeks on September 15th. It’s been three years since Part One, POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR. This week I have long time friend and DJ, Alex Mac. I met him when he was working for IHeart Radio in Des Monies Iowa, we ended up hanging out and kept in touch, and we even took some adventures together over the years. We catch up and talk about how he got involved with the popular dance night Gimmie Gimmie Disco, and what’s in store for future of Alex Mac. Who knows, some might say that I might be playing the Aug 25/26 2023- 5 year anniversary show on drums with him, but I guess you’ll have to listen to the show to find out.
The British punk rocker, YUNGBLUD has unveiled upcoming headlining tour dates in Asia this October and November. He will be joined by Bring Me The Horizon and Jesse Jo Stark on select dates. Back in September of 2020, YUNGBLUD and Bring Me The Horizon collaborated on “Obey“, a special track that gained popularity quickly. It is certainly a heavy rock track, and they even dropped a fantastic music video for it. Bring Me The Horizon take the first verse and chorus, while YUNGBLUD comes in for an explosive second verse.
