The woman who locked horns with Sharon Osbourne in a Los Angeles restaurant last week has fired back with her own version of how the scrap happened. Renee Tab, a talent agent whose war of words with the metal matriarch escalated to violence at the Japanese restaurant Koi, claims Osbourne spat on and kicked her and made threatening and ethnic remarks. Osbourne “started screaming racial slurs,” Tab’s lawyer, Najila Brent, told New York’s Daily News. She called the Iranian-born Tab a “Persian carpet cleaner” and threatened to “send someone to slash [her] face and break [her] leg,” according to the… Read more »

'Disturbing' Jacko Unmasked in British Documentary

Michael Jackson is a “disturbing individual” with a love of multi-million-dollar shopping sprees and a desire to live forever, according to a journalist granted unrivalled access to the pop star. Martin Bashir, who spent eight months making a documentary on the normally reclusive singer, said 44-year-old Jackson truly is the Peter Pan of pop who is obsessed by the idea of childhood being frozen in time. Plastic surgery, child abuse allegations and his father’s cruelty all feature in a warts-and-all British television documentary being aired in Britain Monday evening. The ITV program is the result of the unprecedented access Jackson… Read more »

Epicenter of London's Music Scene Up for Sale

One of London’s most famous music venues, which in its heyday in the 1960s played host to The Who, David Bowie and the Rolling Stones, is for sale, its administrators said Thursday. The Marquee Club, which in the 1970s was the epicenter of the punk explosion, ran into financial difficulties after its high-profile relaunch last fall, said a spokeswoman for administrator BDO Stoy Hayward. “We’re looking for someone in the music business who can capitalize on the Marquee brand and keep running it as a live venue,” she said. The price tag is at least $200 million. The club opened… Read more »

BT Secretive About 'NSYNC Payback On Upcoming Album

BT is hesitant to reveal that his new album features a collaboration with JC Chasez, but not because he’s worried about ruining his dance-music credibility. “I’ve been playing it in my sets and I’m top secret about who it is, ’cause I want people to judge it on the song, not the whole ‘NSYNC affiliation,” the DJ/producer explained Friday at his home studio. “People go f–ing nuts, even my super cool friends that would never admit to [liking ‘NSYNC]. They’re like, ‘Wow, this is such a great tune.’ And I’m like, ‘It’s JC.’ And they’re like, ‘Shut the f– up,’… Read more »

New Found Glory, Something Corporate, Finch Energize DC – Review

The lyrics to the song “This Is My Life Story” by MXPX run through my head as I hopelessly scramble to the very back of the line. I left later than I had hoped, got caught up in D.C. traffic, and arrived about 5 minutes before doors were scheduled to open. Once inside, I rush to get as close to the stage as I possible. While mashed between about five teeny boppers and their “boyfriends,” anticipation runs through my bones as I eagerly await the first performance. First up is Further Seems Forever. I was a little skeptical about this… Read more »

Sum 41 Become Fun Sordid Ones At NY Club Gig – Review

“The last time we were here,” declared Deryck Whibley from the stage, “two girls came up and made out.” The pronouncement by Sum 41’s singer/guitarist Tuesday at CBGB was met with screams and raised hands, an indication that several fans were willing to participate in a reenactment. “This time we have to top it,” the adorable, spiky shorn frontman added, and approached bassist Cone McCaslin, tilted his head and parted his lips. Psych! Both pulled away at the last second. “No way!” they said in unison. The fourth stop on the band’s Sum On Your Face club tour wasn’t filled… Read more »
