A tiny Brooklyn, New York, record label is redefining the age-old battle of the punks vs. the suits. Go-Kart Records founder Greg Ross has a problem with the RIAA’s use of lawsuits to fight online piracy, so he began giving away music for free on Friday. First he wrote an open letter to the recording industry trade group, lambasting its take on the problem of illegal downloading. Pennywise Moves Police-Postponed Show Indoors


Pennywise has found a new location for its free concert on today (June 19) after West Hollywood, California authorities thwarted the group’s plan for an outdoor show because of the confrontational tone of its new single,’ “F-k Authority.” The local punk veterans will now perform indoors at the House Of Blues, just blocks down the Sunset Strip from the original, planned location-the parking lot of Tower Records. Casey Calvert, Guitarist for Hawthorne Heights, Dead at 26


Casey Calvert, guitarist for post punk/ rock band Hawthorne Heights, was found dead early Saturday morning. Calvert was 26-years-old. According to several accounts Calvert appeared healthy on Friday night while spending time with friends before going to sleep for the night. Those same reports indicated that Calvert passed away at some point while sleeping. And it’s terrific.” The announcement of his “refreshing memoir,” Fahrenheit-182, came today, Monday, September 16, via an infomercial-style video posted to Hoppus’ personal social media platforms. Stateside Signs To Pure Noise Record & Drops “Thirty Mile Stretch”


Ahead of their forthcoming tour with Bearings and Broadside, SoCal punks Stateside announced that they have officially signed with Pure Noise Records. Additionally, they made their grand label debut with single “Thirty Mile Stretch” and its accompanying music video.
